Cambridge James E. Aesch passed away Tuesday 10/9/2018 at his home in Coila with his wife, Megon, and brother-in-law, Michael at his bedside. Jim was born in Gloversvil­le, NY on Set.28th, 1954. After graduation, he joined the US Army. Upon discharge he attended FMCC for two years and then Cornell University receiving his bachelors degree in Natural Resources. In 1982, Jim was one of the first employees at Ball Metal Container plant in Saratoga Springs, NY. In 1985 he married Megon Phillips Aesch ,living in Gansevoort, the moving to Cambridge, NY. In 1994 when Megon became ill, Jim became the model caregiver leading many medical people to say his love and attention led to Meg’s recovery. In addition to his full time job at Ball, Jim helped Meg build a successful greenhouse and plant maintenanc­e business prior to her illness. When Jim worked, Meg spent time with her parents in Salem. Jim often said the only thing he enjoyed more than fishing the Battenkill, Mettowee,Snake or Salmon rivers was when he brought Meg to & from Salem and enjoyed his mother-in-law’s cooking. Jim and Meg enjoyed traveling in their RV, up and down the east coast, Cape Breton and New Brunswick in Canada, Amish country in PA., Sweden, Ireland and a cruise to Alaska. Jim was predecease­d by his parents, Alex and Florence (Firth) Aesch Besides his wife, Jim is survived by sisters Elinor Mills and Shirley Alkinburgh (Larry) and brothers John (Gloria) and Robert. If you knew Jim, you aren’t surprised to know he donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Med. He will later be buried in the Saratoga National Cemetery south of Schuylervi­lle The Family asked anyone who wishes, to please donate to Saratoga Hospice, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. per Jim’s wishes. At this time, plans are being formulated for a memorial service or celebratio­n of life, probably at Holy Cross church in Salem, NY.
