AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES: On Tuesday, October 23, Gwendolyn Grace Temple of the Capital/Mohawk Partnershi­p for Regional Invasive Species Management will give a talk about aquatic invasive species and their impact on New York State waterways. The 6:30 p.m. talk will be preceded by a very brief meeting of the Friends of Schoharie Crossing. Refreshmen­ts will be served following the talk which will be held in the Enders House adjacent to the Schoharie Crossing Visitor Center at 129 Schoharie Street in Fort Hunter. All are welcome to attend.

BRAIN FOOD FOR THE CURIOUS: New York State Museum historians and scientists share their knowledge and research in a series of lunchtime talks this fall and winter. “Brain Food for the Curious” is held select on Tuesdays in October through March, from 12:10 p.m. – 12:40 p.m., in the Huxley Theater. On October 23, learn about tourism on the Erie Canal using 1820s guide books with Senior Historian and Curator Brad Utter. Each program includes a 20-minute talk followed by a questionan­d-answer period. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch. GRIEFSHARE: A GriefShare group starts October 23 at 4:30 p.m. at South Glens Falls United Methodist Church, 15 Maplewood Parkway. This group is open to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one and needs support during the grieving process.
