Thunder open four-game homestand Wednesday
Adirondak faces Worcester
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. >> The Thunder open a four-game homestand Wednesday against the Worcester Railers, a team they did battle with in the first round of ECHL playoffs last spring.
Adirondack (3-2) is in a threeway tie for first place in the North Division standings, looking for its first win in Glens Falls after dropping its home opener, 3-2, to Brampton on Saturday, before a crowd of 4,805 at Cool Insuring Arena.
The Railers are 2-1 in the still young ECHL campaign.
“They’re a very structured team,” Thunder coach Alex Loh said. “They play hard, they’re very talented.”
The homestand continues Friday and Saturday against Maine and Worcester, respectively, followed by Newfoundland next Tuesday – all divisional foes.
“I would argue that this is the toughest division in the league,” Loh said. “Top to bottom there’s no soft teams.”
Adirondack has fared well on the road to date, winning three of four contests including an overtime victory at Brampton on Sunday. Now they have to repeat that success at home to stay abreast of the North Division leaders.
The Thunder have found the net 21 times in their first five
games, a better than four goals-per-game average.
“We’re fast, we move our feet, we work hard, we play for each other,” said veteran forward Peter MacArthur of Clifton Park. “That’s a recipe for success.” **** The Thunder will wear special jerseys on Saturday as part of Military Appreciation Night. — Adirondack acquired defenseman Andrew Tessier from the Cincinnati Cyclones on Tuesday in exchange for future considerations.
Tessier, 24, signed with the Cyclones after playing four seasons of college hockey in Canada – two years each at Lakehead University and Laurentian University.
