TROY, N.Y. >> The Swedish Women’s Ice Hockey team has announced its roster for the 2018 Four Nations Cup and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) studentathlete Lovisa Selander has been chosen as one of the 23 players to represent the country in Saskatoon, Sask. from November 6-10.

“We are very proud of Lovisa and excited to watch her at the Four Nations in a few weeks,” said second-year head coach Bryan Vines. “It has been her childhood dream to represent her country and wear the Swedish jersey on the international stage. It’s great to see all of her hard work and commitment paying off. We are very proud of her and we will all be cheering her on from RPI.”

A senior goaltender from Sollentuna, Sweden, Selander has started all five games for the En-

gineers this season, going 1-3-1 with a 1.39 goals against average and a .962 save percentage. She has one shutout - a 58-save, 1-0 win over Robert Morris on October 12 which helped her earn ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week honors. The 58 saves are one shy of the NCAA record for stops in a shutout, which is held by Shenae Lundberg of Union College, which she accomplished against Northeastern on December 2, 2014.

Named Preseason AllECAC Hockey, Selander went 9-16-5 record with a 2.22 goals against average and a .932 save percentage in 30 games (all starts) last season. Notching one shutout, she went 6-10-3 with a 2.06 goals against average and a .936 save percentage in 19 conference games.

Selander earned AllECAC Hockey Second Team in 2017-18 and took part in Sweden’s National Team Camp over the summer. Through 102 career games at Rensselaer, she is 29-57-15 with a 2.33 goals against average and a .931 save percentage. Ranking first in school history in total saves (3,114), the former SDE Riksserien standout continues to climb in other categories including ties (second, 15), games played (third), starts (third, 100), minutes (third, 5,956:49), save percentage (third), goal against average (fifth), wins (sixth) and shutouts (fifth, 8).

Nationally, Selander ranks 16th all-time in saves and 23rd in save percentage.

The Four Nations Cup has taken place every year since 1996, when it was originally the Three Nations Cup, between the United States, Canada and Finland. Sweden first took part in 2000 and has finished as high as third on eight occasions - most recently in 2014. The Swedes have hosted the event four times. Their 2018 roster consists of three goaltenders, including Selander, seven defensemen and 13 forwards. Five are currently playing collegiately in the United States.

Rensselaer returns to action on this Friday and Saturday, when it hosts RIT for a two-game series at the Houston Field House. Puck drop on both days is scheduled for 3pm.
