SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. >> There’s plenty of opportunities available for people seeking a fun, hair-raising experience this weekend.

South Glens Falls Eagles Club’s 13th annual Haunted House continues from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, with donations going to benefit 15-year-old Thomas O’Sullivan of Warrensburg, who is battling bone cancer.

His parents are Dan and Maureen O’Sullivan. Maureen is the administrative assistant to the athletic director at South Glens Falls High School.

The Haunted House, set up by Eagles Club members, promises thrills and chills at every turn. People with young children may request a less scary “lights-on” version of the attraction.

The family-oriented event includes face painting and games for kids, plus a bon fire and refreshments such as hot chocolate, cider, donuts and hot dogs.

There is no admission price for the Haunted House. Donations of any amount are sought. There will also be raffles and a 50-50 contests to boost fundraising.

The Eagles Club hopes to raise at least $3,000.

In Wilton, Operation Adopt A Soldier’s annual John Vincek Memorial Haunted Hayride continues from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine, adjacent to Gavin Park.

The event, with numerous spine-tingling features, is a fundraiser for Operation Adopt A Soldier, which sends nearly 300 care packages per month to troops stationed overseas in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Korea.

Hayrides were begun in 2004 with help from the late John Vincek, who passed away last year. Ten percent of proceeds are donated, in his memory, to combating cancer and funding cancer research.

The Halloween-themed attraction is also open for young children, “Little Screamers,” from 4-6 p.m. There will be games and a bounce house for kids in the Gavin Park gym until 9 p.m., along with a costume judging contest.

In Queensbury, Great Escape theme park’s Fright Fest continues this Saturday and Sunday with children’s daytime activities such as a magic show, Monster Mash with kid-friendly monsters, scream and costume contests and a trickor-treat trail.

After dark, zombies and ghouls take over the park during Fright by Night, which is not recommended for children under 13. Features include Undead Alley, Carnevil and Sinister Storytown.
