RAIN FAILS TO DAMPEN DOWNTOWN FALL FEST
Trick-or-treaters treated to sweets and other goodies
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Braving the elements, not even a variable monsoon could keep trick or treaters away from loading up on a loot of candy, up and down Broadway, in Saratoga Springs Saturday afternoon.
Stores and shops along the main drag were handing out all kinds of goodies to families celebrating the Halloween community event, including the DiNuzzo’s, Louie and Lizzie and their two daughters, Daphne and Cecily, of Saratoga Springs, all going with a Jurassic Park dinosaur theme.
Northshire Bookstore was also plenty festive with candy and performances by Farmer Tom.
On hand for the show and festivities were the Arif family of Saratoga Springs, Almgier, his wife Razia and their daughter Tashafia, who all adorned a Disney look with mouse ears and little Tashafia with a full Minnie Mouse
costume.
“We just wanted to celebrate Halloween with our daughter,” Almgier said. “We usually come here every year, so this is our third time. We decided we can at least participate in some events indoors so that’s why we’re here.”
Also undeterred by the elements were Tim Burton (not the director) and his daughter Noel, all the way from Johnstown.
“Well a little bit of soggy candy I guess, the Halloween spirit of Saratoga, we figured we’d come over and enjoy it as well,” Tim said of their reason for making the trip.
Noel, a costume from the movie “The Incredibles,” said, “getting scared,” is her favorite part of Halloween and her favorite Halloween movie is “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” I trick you not.
So, while the weather was busy playing tricks on everyone, the spirit of the season was still in full swing in Saratoga Springs.
