Embrace The Race celebrates its new flagship retail location
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Local business Embrace The Race is fast-growing into a large and iconic brand for horse racing fans worldwide, and now it’s available to shoppers right on Broadway in Saratoga Springs.
Founded about six years ago by Spa City resident Michael DeAnzeris, Embrace The Race is an apparel and accessories company that is based upon an aspiration for excellence, combining fashion, inspiration and horse racing.
“Our brand was really built around the intangible elements of the horse racing experience,” explained DeAnzeris, who owns the business with his wife Jill. “That ongoing pursuit of excellence, that constant theme of always going forward, combined with elegance and class.”
DeAnzeris first used the phrase “embrace the race” in an email to a friend, then applied some entrepreneurial spirit and ran with it.
“When I moved here I was enthralled with the racing experience, and
was looking for an elegant, classy lifestyle brand that expressed the racing experience - not about one horse, or one track or one race, but the larger feeling around the spirit of what it means to embrace the race,” DeAnzeris said. “In the absence of that, we were inspired to create the brand literally from scratch.”
The Embrace The Race logo is important to the brand. It’s nine, simple yet compelling strokes that form the image of a speeding horse with rider astride, galloping towards glory. Each stroke represents a different piece of the horseracing universe, “with the idea that each of those groups kind of live in their own world until it’s time to embrace the race,” DeAnzeris explained.
As much as the brand is rooted in and founded around the racing experience, “It’s evolved and grown into a symbol of the pursuit of excellence,” he continued.
“Consumers really increasingly want to connect with and support [a] brand that they know embody what they believe in,” DeAnzeris said. “If you believe in that spirit of achievement and going forward, then this is your brand.”
Today, Embrace The Race is designated as The Apparel for the Horse Racing Lifestyle and The Official Apparel of Horse Racing.
DeAnzeris takes pride in not only the brand’s originality and integrity, but having the vision to create a brand for racing, a centuries-old sport that didn’t have one before Embrace The Race.
This apparel is worn by Governors, Supreme Court Justices, Triple Crown Winners, star athletes and coaches from the NFL, NHL and used by companies like Bloomberg, CITI, Dynasty, Paychex.
As Embrace The Race is growing around the globe, it still has a special connection to Saratoga. “We’re horse racing inspired and Saratoga bred,” DeAnzeris said.
Most recently, Embrace The Race celebrated its latest accomplishment at a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new flagship retail location at 327 Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs.
Here shoppers can find the full line of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, accessories, fashion jewelry and more.
Industry participants and group leaders can explore the custom collection opportunities and ways to create their own Embrace The Race gift items.
Looking ahead, DeAnzeris said his goal for Embrace The Race is to continue to grow the brand and start other retail locations around the world while staying based in Saratoga Springs where it was founded.
Embrace The Race is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
