BENNINGTON BATTLEFIELD: Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site will host a Veterans Day observance on November 11 at 11 a.m. Speakers will highlight American service through the centuries, discussing the American experience in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and World War I. A musket salute will follow. This free event is open to the public, no RSVP required. BIG BANG THEORY: Overwhelming evidence indicates that the universe began as a point and has been expanding ever since. Recent discoveries indicate that the visible part of the universe accounts for only about 5% of its energy (or mass), the rest coming from dark matter or dark energy. Dr. Vivek Jain, Associate Professor of Physics at UAlbany and a specialist in elementary particle physics, will discuss these concepts and unanswered questions about the universe at 1:15 p.m. in Room 224 of the Albany Sage Colleges campus, New Scotland Avenue and Academy Road, Albany. EPA PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a Public Information Session to discuss the cleanup of contaminated soil in a half-acre area near Excelsior, Warren and High Rock Avenues on Tuesday, November 13, at 7 p.m. at the Excelsior Springs Event Center, 47 Excelsior Ave., Saratoga Springs. The project area includes a section of Excelsior Avenue, a small green space containing the Old Red Spring well and pavilion and a section of an adjacent paved parking lot.
