SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Saratoga Botanicals Organic Spa & Store is celebrating its five-year milestone by debuting a brand new concept for customers to enjoy.

Founded in 2013, Saratoga Botanicals Organic Spa & Store is located at 80 Henry St. in downtown Saratoga Springs.

The local business kicked off its fifth-anniversary celebration, along with a new interactive bath and beauty blending bar concept in the store area, at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday with the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.

At the bar, customers can sit and order their own customized spa products created in front of their eyes by a “spatender,” a term the business recently trademarked.

“We’re still making our own products - over 200 products that we make - but we found that basically, folks want customized products,” said owner and founder Franesa Pyle. “They wanted different scents or they wanted no scents at all.”

So, Saratoga Botanicals now offers a menu that people can order from, choosing their own scents and extracts, and the custom product will be blended on-site by the spatender on staff.

One of the most popular products from Saratoga Botanicals is facial oils, among a long list that includes lotions, soaps, washes, exfoliators ,and perfumes. Men’s care products such as aftershave lotion, shaving oil, and shaving creams are available as well.

No matter what a customer orders at the bar — it’s always organic. “We’re all organic,” Pyle said. “There’s nothing synthetic we put in our products or the ingredients we use.”

In addition to making the products, Saratoga Botanicals uses them in the services offered in the spa area, which has six treatment rooms. Those services include massages, facials, waxing, energy healing, and body treatments.

Looking ahead, Pyle’s goal is simply for people to be more aware of what they’re putting in and on their bodies, “That’s the impetus of this,” she said, referring to the blending bar, “is inviting people to be part of the process of choosing what goes in their products and knowing that the products that they’re putting in their body are safe.”

Saratoga Botanicals is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
