WILTON, N.Y. >> Saratoga Springs police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a car used by people responsible for a series of recent vehicle break-ins.

Police said they responded at about 4 p.m. Monday to the Saratoga Regional YMCA on West Avenue, in Saratoga Springs, where thefts from two cars occurred.

Police said that in both cases a window was smashed and a purse was taken from inside the vehicle.

Police believe this was not an isolated incident. Police also said that similar thefts took place at a local daycare facility and at the YMCA branch on Old Gick Road in Wilton during a two-hour period.

A group called the “Felony Lane Gang,” which has been active in the Capital District from time to time, is believed responsible for the thefts, according to police.

In one incident, police said surveillance cameras shows two young AfricanAmerican males committing the crime.

Police said the suspects were seen using a latemodel black Toyota Avalon with heavily tinted windows. There is no front license plate on the car and the rear plate looks to be a gold-style New York plate, according to a news release.

However, police said there is no state inspection or registration sticker on the vehicle. In addition, police said something can be seen affixed inside the windshield below the rearview mirror.

Anyone who sees the car used by the alleged thieves is asked to call law enforcement.

Saratoga Springs Police Department may be contacted at (518) 584-1800.

The point of contact for this case is Officer Angela McGovern at extension 3431.

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating thefts that occurred in the Town of Wilton and is working on the case with city police.
