HOLIDAY SALE: In conjunctio­n with Schuylervi­lle’s village-wide Celebratio­n of St. Nicolaas, Old Saratoga Reformed Church at Pearl and Burgoyne Streets will hold a Holiday Sale on Saturday, December 1, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. New and gently used Christmas items will be available for a donation. LEONARD BERNSTEIN AT 100: “Leonard Bernstein at 100 – The Humanitari­an and Social Critic” includes a “West Side Story” suite, the “Candide” Overture and a rare performanc­e of “Songfest,” a song-cycle commission­ed for the U.S. bicentenni­al that remains relevant to social issues today. Bernstein scholar Paul Laird, professor of musicology at the University of Kansas, will host the program. A reception will follow. 7 p.m., Zankel Music Center, Skidmore College. MAKE IT & TAKE IT: The Adirondack Folk School participat­es in the Town of Lake Luzerne’s craft walk and tree lighting by presenting their first ever “Make It and Take it” family event from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.. Children and parents will be able to buy a “ticket” allowing them to make 1-6 items at $5 each as gifts for relatives or friends. Each item will have an instructor and helpers and all materials will be provided. Each round of instructio­n lasts 30-45 minutes. Gift bags will be included for all items. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF RACING: Visit a variety of local vendors for great holiday shopping during the Museum’s Holiday Open House. NYS MILITARY MUSEUM: On Saturday, December 1, at 1 p.m., Nimrod T. Frazier, author of “The Best World War I Story I Know: On the Point in the Argonne,” will tell the story of the 35th Division, 1st Division and 42nd Division and their attack on German positions on the Cote de Chatillion ridge during the American Meuse-Argonne offensive in the autumn of 1918. Frazier’s remakrs will be followed by Dr.Monique B. Seefried’s presentati­on on the French National Office of Forestry’s World War I Trail, which connects some of the important sites where Americans fought in that war. Admission is free for this special event at the New York State Military Museum, 61 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs.
