Saratoga Springs, NY David Silverhart passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. He was 90. A resident of Boynton Beach, FL and Saratoga Springs, David was born on July 29, 1928 to Minnie (Leitman) and Sam Silverhart, the youngest of six children. A graduate of Saratoga High and the Albany College of Pharmacy, he served in the US Army medical corps during the Korean Conflict before pursuing a career as a research pharmacist. He was employed by the GF Harvey Company and then Sterling Winthrop Labs from which he retired in 1994 after 33 years of service. He also was a licensed real estate broker with Saratoga Center for Real Estate. David is survived by his loving wife, Sondra, with whom he enjoyed 64 years of marriage; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Marci Silverhart of West Hartford, CT; cherished grandchild­ren Perri and Reid Silverhart and sister, Lillian Konikoff of Troy, NY. He is pre-deceased by his beloved son Peter and siblings Jack Silverhart, Otto Silverhart, Gertrude Polacsek, and Sylvia Silverberg. David’s greatest pleasures came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchild­ren. He was involved over the years in a variety of activities including serving on the Saratoga Springs Narcotics Council, being a scout leader, and as a member of B’Nai B’rith and the Saratoga-Wilton BPOE. The hobbies he enjoyed included winemaking, fishing, skiing, gardening, stained-glass, boating on Lake George, golfing at the Saratoga Golf and Polo Club, and gourmet cooking. His mustard pickles were absolutely the best. The family would like to acknowledg­e nephew Allan Polacsek, Carole and Pamela whose never ending support is so appreciate­d. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Congregati­on Shaara Tfille, 84 Weibel Ave., Saratoga Springs. Shiva will be observed at the family home in Saratoga the evenings of Jan. 19th through Jan. 21st from 7:00 – 9:00, and at Todd and Marci’s home in West Hartford from 7:00 – 9:00 on Jan. 22nd. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 100 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801 or Congregati­on Shaara Tfille.
