GETTING READY TO PIG OUT

TROY, N.Y. >> One of the most loved events in the Capital Region, the 12th Annual Troy Pig Out is a full day of family fun where culinary competitor­s duke it out for the best BBQ, and people flock to Riverfront Park to taste some of the area’s best food. Taking place on Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Troy Pig Out offers activities for all ages, palettes, and interests. The festival includes a hot dog and pie eating contest, cornhole competitio­n, the Dinosaur BBQ People’s Choice Awards, food, and craft vendors, live music throughout the day, and Fireworks over the Hudson River at dusk!

Troy Pig Out features live music by Anthony Fallacaro, Greg Farley, Wyld Blu Band, Soul Sky, Andrew Mirabile, and C.K. & The Rising Tide. Are you a quick eater? Have a good shot? Stick around between bands to experience the fourth annual Hot Dog Eating Contest with Famous Lunch, and participat­e in the Collar City Cornhole Tournament with free tournament­s beginning at 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. Cornhole is open to all ages and the hot dog eating contest is limited to ages 18 and older.

There will be plenty of activities for the whole family at the Kid’s Zone, sponsored by Bash Birthday Parties, including their piggybank painting project, games, and water balloons and a wildlife adventure up close! Stroll through the craft vendors offering posters, locally made t-shirts, gluten-free baked goods and jewelry (Egyptian, sealife objects and semi-precious stones). Try the alligator jerky!
