SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> The popular annual Jockey Night party series is moving to Sundays this summer.

Each Sunday during Saratoga Race Course’s 2019 season, which began Thursday and runs through Labor Day, The Reserve Night Club is welcoming jockeys and their fans to have a fun night out.

“The party has been a tradition for over a decade,” said Brian Miller, one of the event organizers, explaining that it originally started at the now-closed Club Thirteen.

Now the party is on the other side of Caroline Street, at The Reserve, and this year it’s being held on Sundays instead of Mondays, because of the extra weekly Dark Day added to the racing schedule for 2019.

“The change to Sundays has been prompted by the new race course schedule, with Mondays off it makes sense for the jockeys,” Miller said.

Organizers are branding the event series with the slogan “New night, Same epic party.”

A Facebook page for the event states: “With the new dark day schedule, Sunday night will be twice the party Monday nights were.”

Another new aspect of Jockey Night is a fundraising effort for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, a charity that provides financial assistance to former jockeys who have suffered catastrophic on-track injuries. A portion of all 2019 Jockey Night proceeds will be donated to this organization at the end of the season.

The Jockey Night will kick off this Sunday, July 14 at The Re

serve, located at 6 Caroline St. in downtown Saratoga Springs, with music by DJ NV Niko Verrigni. Doors open at 9 p.m. and music starts at 10 p.m. for each event.

The parties will also feature Belvedere Vodka and Veuve Clicquot drink specials, Miller said, “The jockeys deserve nothing but the best!”

A special Jockey Karaoke Night will be held on Sunday, July 28.

Attendees must be 21 years of age or older to enter. VIP table service is available.
