Fr. Mark Chesnut of Christ the King Spiritual Life Center
Christ the King Spiritual Life Center, located at 575 Burton Rd. in Greenwich, will host a Healing Festival designed to help those suffering from PTS, PTSD, and trauma from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Festival Coordinator Fr. Mark Chesnut shares an overview.
1. Who should attend the Healing Festival?
Anyone who wants to receive prayer is welcome to attend. However, we are especially interested in bringing together those wrestling with some kind of trauma. This includes veterans, first responders, firemen or emergency medical technicians who have suffered trauma in the line of duty or those who have experienced sexual or physical abuse at some point in their life.
2. What will attendees gain from the experience?
Our hope is that the event gives those suffering from trauma an opportunity to meet others who have experienced similar traumatic experiences, as well as to meet the God who transforms and heals.
3. Who is the evening’s keynote presenter, and what will he be talking about?
Dr. Mike Hutchings, director of education for Global Awakening, an evangelistic ministry in Mechanicsburg, PA, will speak at the healing service right after a period of praise and worship. Mike, who has 35 years of pastoral and church planting experience, will discuss how prayer can bring emotional, spiritual and physical healing and freedom to anyone suffering from trauma or moral injury, especially those coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He regularly conducts ‘Healing PTSD’ training seminars throughout the country training prayer ministers, clergy, chaplains, and counselors to utilize a healing prayer model to bring restoration to those suffering with both PTS and PTSD. Mike has a gift of working with those who are suffering from trauma.
4. What about the rest of the evening’s festivities?
Our event gets underway at 4 p.m. with a community chicken barbeque and pig roast featuring folk/Christian music by This Time Around. The cost is $15 per person. At 7:00 pm the healing service begins, featuring Mike Hutchings. Worship will be lead by the Hoosic Valley Community Church Worship Band. Our evening takes places under a large outdoor tent with idyllic vistas of Southern Washington County. It’s truly a wonderful spot to refresh your soul!
