Racing City Chorus summer concert series returns July 25
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> The Racing City Chorus is set to entertain downtown crowds with its annual a cappella summertime concert series.
Barbershop on Broadway returns to Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs for six consecutive Thursday evenings from July 25 to Aug. 29 during racing season to entertain summer crowds with The Racing City Chorus’ a cappella “Barbershop-style” singing.
Performances will begin at 7 p.m. and continue at a variety of downtown venues until 9 p.m.
After the weekly Broadway appearances, the group will visit the Olde Bryan Inn for an “After-Glow Party” that will include food and drink specials and an informal continuation of a cappella entertainment.
“Racing is back once again to Saratoga Springs and so is the Racing City Chorus entertaining crowds from all walks of life who love to hear barbershop A Cappella harmony being sung on downtown Broadway,” said Steve Dyer, Racing City Chorus president, in a news release. “The Chorus entertains visitors with a wide variety of songs enjoyed by all.
“This is one of the more rewarding things we do as Chorus members, singing to audiences and seeing the positive responses it creates from youngsters to adults. We have had folks from many different states, and countries tell us how much they enjoyed our music. We look forward to entertaining again this year, thanks to our many sponsors who have made it all possible.”
The Racing City Chorus is a men’s singing organization that meets regularly to practice, perform, socialize and have fun. There are currently more than 40 singers from all walks of life and all parts of the Saratoga Springs area.
The main purpose of The Racing City Chorus is to get out and sing for the community. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and an important part of the chorus experience.
Rehearsals are held each Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the PBA Club House located at 5 Bliven Way in Saratoga Springs. The Racing City Chorus is affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society, a nonprofit organization of about 25,000 members headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.
