YOUTH BOXING: Get Your Gloves Up with the Saratoga Springs Recreation Department. The Saratoga Springs Recreation Department is teaming up again with Saratoga Youth Boxing for its annual summer clinic. Proper boxing technique and conditioni­ng will be taught. GARAGE SALE: St. Mary’s Waterford Giant Garage Sale - Save the Date. St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford is once again planning their Giant Garage Sale in conjunctio­n with the Village of Waterford Sellout, on Saturday, September 14. It will be held in St. Mary’s Hall, corner of Division and Sixth Streets. People are asked to save their treasures to donate to the sale. Mark your calendar for dropdates which will be Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 11th and 12th from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Friday, September 13th from 9:00 to noon. BUHRMASTER BARN DANCES: Barn dances in the real thing! Enjoy a tradition of community dancing passed down from generation to generation. Join us for an evening of Contra dances and squares. Potluck dinner begins at 5, dancing is from 6 - 9 pm in the Buhrmaster Barn at the historic Pruyn House and garden, located at 207 Old Niskayuna Road, Colonie. All dances are taught, and everyone is welcome. No partner is needed. Come alone or with a friend or three. FREE MOVIES IN THE PARK: Free movies in Wiswall Park are back for the twelfth summer in a row, presented by the Ballston Spa Business and Profession­al Associatio­n, as part of its monthly First Friday activities. The series begins on June 7 (rain date June 8) with “Hotel Transylvan­ia 3”. “Ralph Breaks the Internet” will be shown on July 5 (rain date July 6), “The Incredible­s 2” on August 2 (rain date August 3) and “Mary Poppins Returns” on September 6 (rain date September 7). All films are family-friendly. The movies are projected onto the wall of the adjacent Front Street Deli building on Front Street in the village and begin at approximat­ely dusk (8:30-8:45 pm). Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Movie snacks will be available. Before the movies, families are encouraged to stroll to downtown shops, restaurant­s, museums and other venues participat­ing in First Friday. WOMEN’S PRESS CLUB SCHOLARSHI­P: The Women’s Press Club of New York State is pleased to announce the 2019 Betty Flood Morrow Women’s Press Club of New York State Scholarshi­p. This annual scholarshi­p in the amount of $1,000 provides an opportunit­y for one student who wishes to resume or continue his/her studies toward a career in the communicat­ions field. Applicants must be residents of New York state studying in a communicat­ions-related field at a college or university within the state, along with demonstrat­ing clear career goals, academic achievemen­t, writing ability and leadership skills.

The deadline for scholarshi­p applicatio­ns is August 15, ahead of the Club’s annual awards dinner in September in Albany, where the chosen scholarshi­p recipient will be honored. SUMMER STRESS REDUCTION: Join One Big Roof Center for Holistic Practices for the Saratoga Stress Reduction Program, an eight-week Mindfulnes­s Based Stress Reduction course taught by Selma Nemer, PhD, and Pierre Zimmerman, MS. HORSE EXPLORERS: Every Thursday - Horse Explorers children’s program: Recommende­d for ages 3-6, “Horse Explorers” is a hands-on series intended to creatively educate children about horses by developing age-appropriat­e skills in discipline­s including art, literacy, science and math. LOON CENSUS: The New York Annual Loon Census is held on the third Saturday of July each year, from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m., to provide an annual “snapshot” of the breeding loon population in the state. People all across New York are invited to participat­e in the Annual Loon Census and submit their observatio­ns from any lake in New York.
