August events at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will be hosting the following special events and public programs in August:
Thursday, August 1 — Children’s Program: “HorseThemed Trivia Game:” Come and play some racing-themed games and make a fun toy with a straw! Recommended for children ages 3 through 8. Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost: Free with paid adult admission.
Thursday, August 1 — Racing Partnership and Syndicate Event: Learn all about how to get involved in thoroughbred ownership from some of the top partnerships in the game. There will be giveaways, complimentary food and beverage graciously donated by Saratoga Eagle as well as an opportunity to individually meet representatives from the partnerships. Time: 6 to 8 p.m. Cost: Free to attend.
Thursday, August 1 — “The Lucky Thirteen: The Winners of America’s Triple Crown of Horse Racing” book signing with author Edward L. Bowen. Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Location: Hall of Fame. Cost: Free to attend, books available for purchase.
Friday, August 2 — Hall of Fame induction ceremony: Honoring the 2019 Hall of Fame induction class. Tom Durkin will serve as master of ceremonies. Time: 10:30 a.m. Location: Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion. Cost: Free to attend (limited seating). Note: The ceremony will also be streamed live on the Museum website at www.racingmuseum.org.
Saturday, August 3 — Saturday Morning Social: Join Museum staff and special guests for a casual discussion of the day’s racing action at Saratoga and other tracks throughout the country. Featuring “The Travers: 150 Years of Saratoga’s Greatest Race” book signing with authors Brien Bouyea and Michael Veitch, “Secretariat’s Meadow” book signing with author Kate Chenery Tweedy, and “The Key to the Quarter Pole” book signing with author Robin Traywick Williams. Also featuring “Saratoga Saturdays” handicapping with Tom Amello and Trackfacts (10:40 a.m.), as well as complimentary light refreshments and Saratoga past performances for the day’s racing card. Cost: Free admission, books available for purchase. Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Saturday, August 3 — Craig Perret Autograph Signing: Meet 2019 Hall of Fame inductee Craig Perret, who will be signing autographs of a limited-edition print available only at the Museum. Cost: $15, includes print. Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Thursday, August 8 — Children’s Program: “Make Your Own Induction Plaque:” Learn about the 2019 Hall of Fame inductees and view some plaques of famous horses, trainers, and jockeys to design your own to take home. Recommended for children ages 3 through 8. Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost: Free with paid adult admission.
