FIELD TO FORK: Cornell Cooperativ­e Extension of Saratoga County, in associatio­n with CCE Warren County and Upper Hudson River Valley QDMA, are proud to announce our Fall 2019 program, Field to Fork. The program is aimed towards people who would like to learn more about self-sufficienc­y and sustainabi­lity through deer hunting. The classes will be taught in correlatio­n with hunting season and stress safety as well as health benefits. Instructio­n will include: hunter education, license, hunting as it relates to conservati­on, understand­ing deer, making ethical shots, hunting essentials, field game care, meat processing preservati­on, and cooking venison. Where: Ballston Spa CCE facilities. Hunter Orientatio­n – October 2nd and 16th 7-9 pm, NYS Hunter Ed/ Range Day – October 20th 9 am-5 pm, Hunts will occur between November 16th – December 8th. SUPPORT GROUP FOR TEENS: Saratoga Center for the Family is pleased to offer a new support group for transgende­r, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and gender questionin­g teens. The purpose of the group is to offer a safe space for those wishing to share experience­s and to receive support from peers. Therapist Paula Zimmerman, LMHC, will lead the group two Wednesday afternoons each month. Support group meetings are currently scheduled for the following Wednesdays: August 14, August 28, September 11, and September 18 at 4:00 p.m. at the Center’s main location at 359 Ballston Avenue, Saratoga Springs. THE WAY WE WERE CAR SHOW: The 17th Annual “The Way We Were” Car Show is Coming in October! The Ballston Spa Business & Profession­al Associatio­n (BSBPA) is pleased to announce plans for the 17th Annual “The Way We Were” Car Show to be held Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 9 am-4 pm on Front Street in Ballston Spa. The rain date will be October 20. Front Street will be blocked off from Milton Avenue past the Old Iron Springs to accommodat­e car exhibits and vendors. In addition to food and merchandis­e vendors, the show will again feature a “Kids Zone”, located by the Old Iron Springs, which will feature free children’s activities. The car show is a judged show and several trophies will be awarded, including Best of Show, Mayor’s Choice, Best Engine, Best Paint, Best Stock, Oldest Vehicle plus the top 3 in specified categories. Judging begins at 9 am with trophies awarded at 3:30 pm. The event is free to spectators. Exhibitors can pre-register by September 30, 2019 for $15 per car or $20 the day of show. All proceeds will benefit BSBPA community activities. Dash plaques will be given to the first 400 cars registered and the first 200 cars registered will receive car show souvenirs.
