Brown Bag Lunch Series speakers announced
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> The Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Visitor Center, in partnership with the Saratoga Springs Public Library, has announced the lineup of speakers for its Fall 2019 Brown Bag Lunch Series, an annual educational program meant to highlight the rich history, culture and traditions of Saratoga Springs and its Heritage Area.
All Brown Bag Lunch Lecture programs are free and open to the public. No registration is required. The programs take place from noon to 1 p.m. and meet in the H. Dutcher Community Room of the Saratoga Springs Public Library at 49 Henry St. in Saratoga Springs.
“We’re looking forward to another season of interesting speakers and topics,” a press release from the Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Visitor Center said. “Hope to see you there!”
Thursday, Sept. 12: The Travers: 150 Years of Saratoga’s Greatest Race, presented by National Museum of Racing Communications Director Brien Bouyea and retired horse racing columnist Michael Veitch.
Thursday, Oct. 10: The Urban Renewal Program in Saratoga Springs, 1962 – 1986, presented by Saratoga County Supervisor Matthew Veitch.
Thursday, Nov. 14: Saratoga History: As told by the Bolster Collection, presented by History Museum Executive Director Jamie Parillo and local historian Charlie Kuenzel.
Thursday, Dec. 12: A Gangster’s Paradise: Saratoga Springs from Prohibition to Kefauver, presented by retired Saratoga Springs Police Chief and author Greg Veitch.
Karen Verrigni, the Visitor Center assistant director, is excited to continue the longtime tradition of the Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series. “We are grateful to the speakers, our partners at the library and our loyal attendees who contribute their time, energy and talents to sustain this popular lecture series,” she said in the release. “Through partnership and collaboration, we’re able to provide quality programming to our community.”
