Union College improves to 2-0on the season while the AMCATS fall to 0-2. Sophomore quarterbac­k John Germinerio (Wynantskil­l/Troy H.S.) was 8-for-10under center for 73yards on the day. Sophomore running back Griff Wallner (Halfmoon/Shenenehow­a H.S.) ran the ball eight times for 36 yards and a touchdown for Union College. Senior kicker WIll Halpin III (Latham/Shaker H.S.) had one put on the day for 39yards landing inside the Anna Maria 20-yard line along with adding a 24-yard field goal for the Dutchmen. Halpin was busy kicking off for Union, drilling the ball eight times for 428yards on the day with a touchback. ENDICOTT FOOTBALL DROPS ROCHESTER, 28-3 BEVERLY, Mass. – Behind a suffocatin­g defense and timely scoring, the Endicott College football team defeated Rochester, 28-3, on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium. Defensivel­y, Endicott limited the Yellowjack­ets to just four drives inside its plus-30out of 13total chances and one score (field goal, 3rd quarter, 1:35) in three red zone opportunit­ies. Of the four chances inside the Gulls’ 30-yard line, Endicott forced a 37-yard missed field goal (2nd quarter, 12;18) and intercepte­d two passes. Defensive back senior Jesse Simoni (East Greenbush/Columbia H.S.) had two tackles in the win. HAMILTON RUNS PAST BOWDOIN 37-24 Hamilton College’s David Kagan ‘20ran for 195yards and three touchdowns and the Continenta­ls defeated the Bowdoin College Polar Bears 37-24at Bowdoin’s Whittier Field on Saturday afternoon. Hamilton won a season opener for the first time since 2011when they defeated Tufts University 24-16. The Continenta­ls extended their win streak against the Polar Bears to four games. Hamilton hosts Wesleyan University at Steuben Field on Saturday, Sept. 21at 1p.m. Section 2 is represente­d by freshman defensive back Shane Lavender (Latham/Shaker H.S.) and defensive back Sam Richard (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls H.S.) history, the squads played to a draw in the first half, with the period featuring 12combined fouls and ten shots between the two teams. Siena came the closest to scoring in the 29th minute, when senior Conor McGlynn banked a shot just to the right following a corner kick opportunit­y. Overall, six different Saints attempted a shot in the loss, with sophomore Aaron Martin leading the way with three in 59minutes of reserve action. Sophomore captain Greg Monroe (Clifton Park/Shenendeho­wa H.S.) made his 32rd consecutiv­e start inbetween-the-pipes for the Green and Gold, making three saves in the process. SAGE MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO ONEONTA STATE, 1-0 ALBANY, NY — The Sage Colleges’ men’s soccer team hosted the No. 2ranked Red Dragons of Oneonta State on Saturday afternoon in the Gators’ 2019home opener. Tied at 0-0at the break, Sage pushed the Red Dragons on Saturday but fell, 1-0in the home debut of Sage’s rookie head coach Matt Esposito. Oneonta remains unbeaten with a 5-0mark, while Sage drops to 2-3 on the year. PLATTSBURG­H STATE FALLS TO SKIDMORE COLLEGE 2-0 PLATTSBURG­H, N.Y. – Plattsburg­h State men’s soccer fell to Skidmore College 2-0in non-conference action on Saturday night at the Field House Complex. Plattsburg­h State (2-4-0) was outscored by Skidmore College (4-0-2) 1-0 in the first half of play. The Thoroughbr­eds struck early as Stanley Langyintuo scored, unassisted, in the fourth minute. Plattsburg­h State’s junior goalkeeper Ryan Wilson (2-4-0) punched out an initial shot. A Cardinal defender tried to clear the ball, but it deflected back off of Wilson and out to Langyintuo, who took a shot from the topright portion of the 18-yard box that found the lower-left corner of the net. Skidmore’s goal came early in the half with David Braman scoring in the 52nd minute. On a free kick from outside the top of the 18yard box, Braman finished into the lower-left corner of the net with a right-footed strike. Shenendeho­wa is well represente­d on the Cardinals staff with a pair of sophomore defenders in James Alexander and Ethan Behan along with senior forward Kyle Pfaff on the men’s roster. UNION COLLEGE WIN STREAK STANDS AT SIX STRAIGHT BRONX, N.Y. -- Senior Salvador Lopez Jr. and junior Poom Mera led the Union College men’s soccer team to a close 2-1win over Lehman College in Bronx, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon. The team improves to an impressive 6-0 record for the 2019campai­gn with the win. Freshman forward Evan Farr (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs H.S.) came off the bench for the Dutchmen. With the win, the Dutchwomen now have a winning 3-2record on the season before the start of Liberty League play. Boone had four shots on the afternoon, including two on goal, including her score. For the Cardinals, sophomore forward Emily Frodyma (Watervliet/Catholic Central H.S.) had a shot registered in the loss with freshman midfielder Claudia Fountain (Watervliet/Catholic Central H.S.) seeing playing time Saturday. Plattsburg­h falls to 3-2 CORTLAND DROPS RPI 2-0 CORTLAND, N.Y. - Ro Hernandez scored a pair of goals early in the second half to lift the SUNY Cortland women’s soccer team past Rensselaer Polytechni­c Institute (RPI), 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Holloway Field. With the win, the Red Dragons improve to 2-3, while the Engineers drop to 1-2-2. Starting goalie Joey Lyons (1-2-2) finished with five saves before giving way to junior Kate Nadeau (Cohoes/Shaker H.S), who had two stops over the final 20minutes. SUNY ONEONTA DROPS VASSAR 3-2 Senior Seaver Lipshie scored a pair of goals including the game-winner to lead SUNY Oneonta women’s soccer to a 3-2 win today at home against Vassar College. The win for the Red Dragons was its second straight, as they move to 2-1-1 overall in the young season. Freshman forward Kelsey Smith (Clifton Park/ Shenendeho­wa H.S.) came off the bench to score for Oneonta Saturday afternoon. Freshman midfielder Haley Honsinger (Brunswick/ Tamarac H.S.) is also on the Red Dragons roster.
