Participants will explore the costs related to funding higher education. Participants will navigate the financial aid process (FASFA) and develop strategies to pay for college by evaluating their current and future financial means as compared to their anticipated financial commitment. They will be exposed to additional financial resources that are available to them. In addition, participants will gain a better understanding of the hidden costs of college. CLAY NIGHT OUT: a one-time evening wheel throwing class for adults. Saratoga Clay Arts Center has created a one-time clay class for adults who are interested in an experience and trying wheel-throwing for the first time. Join us for a fun night out with friends, family or a date! The evening will start at 7pm with a wheel throwing demonstration, followed by an opportunity for you to learn how to throw on the potter’s wheel. BENEFIT CHORUS: The American Legion Adirondack Post 70, 34 West Avenue, Saratoga Springs will host a pancake breakfast on Saturday, September 21, 2019 between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to benefit the recently-formed Saratoga Veterans Chorus. In addition to pancakes, menu items will include eggs, bacon, toast, orange juice and coffee. Tickets are $8.00, $4.00 for those 12 years and under and are available at the door. The fundraiser is underwritten by the Adirondack Trust Company, Stewart’s Shops, and Price Chopper/Market 32. The Saratoga Veterans Chorus welcomes both male and female veterans, active duty, reserve and guard service members to enjoy the camaraderie of a cappella singing in a relaxed environment. There are no auditions or public singing required, although there will be opportunities for community performances for those interested. Instruction by a professional choral director. HERO WALK: The Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region will be hosting the Annual Hero Walk and Run for Autism on Saturday, September 21st from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Schenectady Central Park. Be a hero and join the Autism Society for a community walk and timed run in support of children and adults with autism in the Capital Region! The Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, has served as the region’s premier source of education, advocacy, and support for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), their families, friends, and professionals. This family-friendly event includes entertainment, food, and exhibitors, and attendees often create team shirts or hero costumes.
