Local Equestrian photographer Tracey Buyce
Tracey Buyce is a well-known fine art equine photographer. She photographs many types of horses – show breeds, pleasure horses, rescue horses and thoroughbreds. You can attend her Interactive Horse Art Show come October 10th. 1. Why equestrian photography? “I love taking these photos because there is simply nothing like the connection between an equestrian and her/him horse. I love emotional moments that reveal all of the beauty, joy and magic that you feel when are with your horse. On the Fine Art side of things, there’s nothing better than sitting in a pasture with horses. Their language and mannerism always fascinate me. I love just watching and waiting for a moment to unfold that moves me and becomes my art.”
2. Does your love for equestrian photography flow into your personal life?
“Yes, it does! I’m a dedicated animal lover and equestrian myself. I have three rescue dogs, Sydney, Banjo, and Bobbi Jo, and a horse named Henri. Henri is an American Quarter Horse. He brings me so much joy.”
3. What is it about your horse Henri that you love the most?
“He just has the best heart, and he has actually taught me a lot about strength and facing my fears. I always love when he knickers when I walk up to him. That’s when my heart melts.”
4. You’re very big when it comes to supporting charities and organizations close to your heart. What are some of them?
“I support New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program and Photographers without Borders. Being an advocate for animals through photography is my contribution to help animals have better lives.”
5. Talking about organizations, you’re actually giving proceeds from an upcoming event to one?
“Yes, I am hosting an Interactive Horse Art Show October 10th. A portion of the proceeds will be gifted to the New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program, the nation’s largest racehorse adoption program. The event allows me to meet all of the people who enjoy equestrian art as much as me. But what is even cooler is that you can meet the horses I actually photographed.
“You can purchase the pieces at the event. For more information on the event and to register to the event, you can visit the eventbrite page or my Facebook page www. facebook.com/traceybuycephotography.”
