Year of the Senior Fall Harvest Festival set
BALLSTON SPA, NY >> Saratoga County Board of Supervisors Chairman Kevin Tollisen is announcing the Saratoga County Year of the Senior Fall Harvest Festival to be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Milton Town Park.
The free event is being organized by the Board of Supervisors, the County Office for the Aging, and the County Veterans Service Agency, is free for all Saratoga County residents ages 60 years and older.
This event will also honor seniors who have served our country with a special ceremony in recognition of veterans in the community. Veterans are encouraged to wear hats or clothes representing their branch of service.
Similar to the success of the Year of the Senior Carnival held in June, there will be plenty of fun activities throughout the festival. Seniors will be able to enter to win prizes in events such as a costume contest, a pie eating contest, and a pumpkin decorating contest.
Entertainment will include a DJ and a special encore by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office of their Lip Sync to the Rescue performance. Refreshments and food fit for the season will be available including apple cider, donuts, and fresh apples.
“We’re excited to be hosting another Year of the Senior event to ensure our seniors know that Saratoga County appreciates the investment and contributions they have made to make our County so successful, “Chairman Tollisen said.
“I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to recognize the veterans who will be in attendance at this event. It’s important that we take every opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to them for all of their present and prior service to our community.”
Sandi Cross, Director of the Saratoga County Office for the Aging, agrees that the event is one more opportunity to honor Saratoga County’s senior citizens and its veterans.
