Monday, Sept. 23 FALL WELLNESS WALK: On Monday, September 23rd at 11:00am Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will be holding one of its bi-monthly Wellness Walks. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the trails as summer turns into autumn. The Wellness Walks are geared towards gentle exercise and the enjoyment of nature and will be accessible for participants at basic fitness levels. The walk will depart from the Neilmann Trailhead located off of Ruggles Road, just south of Kings Road. Registration is appreciated as the program could be cancelled if there is bad weather. The Wellness Walks are a bi-monthly activity with the next walk scheduled on October 7, leaving from the Edie Road Trailhead. CERT TRAINING: The Town of Malta will be presenting its Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) Class beginning Tuesday, September 24, 2019. This 17-hour course will provide basic knowledge regarding a variety of emergencies you might encounter and what to do in those situations. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive certification and be eligible to join CERT and if you choose not to join the team, it is still very valuable training for you and your family. You will learn CPR, Basic First Aid, How to perform fire suppression for small fires, Search and Rescue and more. Saturday, Sept. 28 MONARCH WALK: On September 28th at 11:00am there will be a guided walk which will focus on the majestic Monarch Butterfly. This event will give participants a chance to look for Monarch butterflies on a nature walk during their peak season just as they begin their migration to Mexico for the winter. The Monarch butterflies love Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park for its many nectar species and its open pine/oak savannah. Participants will cover about a mile of gently rolling terrain leaving from the Camp Saratoga North trailhead located on Scout Road. The walk will not take place if there is rain. EQUINE PROGRAM FOR VETERANS: On September 28, Long Shadows Farm will hold two sessions in Equine Assisted Gestalt® for veterans and former military service. The coaching will be led by Cindy Aldrich of “Inner Journeys with Horses” and Arlene Lotters of Long Shadows Farm. Both coaches are certified in this gentle restorative experience with horses. The sessions are three hours long and there will two time slots available, 10 AM and 2 PM. There is no charge to the participants.
