Roundabout construction planned for weekend
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. >> The state Department of Transportation Tuesday advised motorists using the roadways surrounding the Route 146 roundabout construction site to be aware of closures for the upcoming three weekends.
DOT is advising motorists that segments of the intersection of Route 146, Route 146A and Vischer Ferry Road in Clifton Park will be closed during the next three weekends as work continues to construct a modern twolane roundabout.
The northern section of the project, those roadways leading to and from Route 146A will close at 10 p.m. Friday. They are scheduled to reopen by Saturday at 11 p.m.
Motorists using Route 146A heading south trying to reach Route 146 can use the posted detour which will take them to the road via Kinns Road, Plank Road and Maxwell Drive.
Traffic traveling east and west on Route 146 as well those motorists entering the intersection from Vischer Ferry Road will be reduced to a single alternating lane controlled by flaggers around the clock.
The following weekend the southern leg of the intersection, those roads leading on to and from Vischer Ferry Road, will close at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 and reopen by 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.
Motorists on Vischer Ferry Road heading north toward the intersection can use the posted detour which will take them to Route 146 via Clifton Park Center Road and Moe Road.
Traffic traveling on Route 146 will be reduced once again to a single alternating lane controlled by flaggers around the clock.
During the final weekend, both the northern and southern sections of the intersection, Route 146A and Vischer Ferry Road, will close at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, and reopen by 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. Motorists should use the posted detours once more.
Traffic traveling on Route 146, east or west, that weekend will once again be reduced to a single alternating lane controlled by flaggers around the clock.
The road work and scheduled closures are weather permitting. Motorists are advised to plan travel accordingly. They are also
urged to slow down and safely move over when approaching roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
