Monday, Sept. 23 FALL WELLNESS WALK:

On Monday, September 23rd at 11:00am Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will be holding one of its bi-monthly Wellness Walks. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the trails as summer turns into autumn. The Wellness Walks are geared towards gentle exercise and the enjoyment of nature and will be accessible for participants at basic fitness levels. The walk will depart from the Neilmann Trailhead located off of Ruggles Road, just south of Kings Road. Registration is appreciated as the program could be cancelled if there is bad weather. The Wellness Walks are a bi-monthly activity with the next walk scheduled on October 7, leaving from the Edie Road Trailhead. Tuesday, Sept. 24 CERT TRAINING:

The Town of Malta will be presenting its Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) Class beginning Tuesday, September 24, 2019. This 17-hour course will provide basic knowledge regarding a variety of emergencies you might encounter and what to do in those situations. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive certification and be eligible to join CERT and if you choose not to join the team, it is still very valuable training for you and your family. You will learn CPR, Basic First Aid, How to perform fire suppression for small fires, Search and Rescue and more. There is no fee for this course but you must be a resident of the Town of Malta to enroll. This event will give participants a chance to look for Monarch butterflies on a nature walk during their peak season just as they begin their migration to Mexico for the winter. NICK’S RUN: Nick’s Fight to be Healed Foundation (NFTBHF) in conjunction with the Honsinger Family is proud to announce its 10th Annual Nick’s Run to be Healed 5K on Sunday, September 29th, 2019, at the Clifton Commons in honor of Olivia DeWitt and JP Honsinger, both from Clifton Park. 16-year old JP was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) disease at age 10. NPC is a rare neuro-degenerative disease that strikes children and is known as childhood Alzheimer’s. 5-year old Olivia was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was 3 1⁄2 years old. She will complete treatment this fall and is entering kindergarten. Olivia is one of 90 children who are diagnosed every year just in our area.
