“If you live to be a 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.” Saratoga Springs, NY – William James Farrell, Jr and Suzanne Marie (Dunson) Farrell passed away on September 21 and September 22, 2019. Bill was born on June 8, 1935 and Sue was born on November 27, 1938 both in Saratoga Springs, NY. Bill was the son of the late William and Eleanor (Comly) Farrell. Sue was the daughter of the late William J. And Elaine (Waring) Dunson. They attended St. Peter’s Academy, graduating in 1953 and 1956 respective­ly.

Bill attended Villanova University in Villanova, PA, graduating in 1957. He completed his MBA in 1980 from Troy State University. Sue attended St. Joseph’s College of Nursing in Syracuse, NY, graduating in 1959.

After his graduation from Villanova, Bill joined the Army and served in Germany for three years. Upon completion of his Army service, he returned to Saratoga and married Sue at the Church of St. Peter on February 11, 1961. Bill taught history at Saratoga High School for several years. In 1966, he began his 30-year career with the Department of Defense (AAFES), which took his family all over the United States and Europe.

Sue worked as a registered nurse all over the United States and Europe. She started her career at Saratoga Hospital and remained a dedicated nurse for 35 years. She never met a stranger, and loved to entertain her family and friends. She loved to travel, but being at home surrounded by her family was her greatest joy.

Bill was a life-long Villanova basketball fan. Their National Championsh­ip years in 1985, 2016, and 2018 were the best years of his life. To the end, he was a dedicated Yankees fan. Their love story was one many only dream of having. They were devoted to each other and their family. Sue was the eldest of six Dunson girls. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Carole (Mark) Moreau and Lainie (Ted) Norman. She is survived by her sisters, Linda (Al) Macica, Jill (Nick) Nichols and MaryLou (John) Luckie. Together, Bill and Sue are survived by their children, Kevin Farrell, Brian (Jody) Farrell, Sheila (Greg) Gober, Colleen Farrell, and Kathleen (Josh) Stewart; ten wonderful grandchild­ren, Megan, Jillian, Matthew, Timothy, Jonathan, Jenna, Zachary, Susannah, Noah, and Gideon.

Their love and dedication to each other did not stop until Bill’s death on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Sue went to join her beloved husband of 58 years just 21 hours later. They will be eternally together. A Joint Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2019, in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, by the Rev. Thomas H. Chevalier, pastor. Burial with military honors will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Needy Associatio­n, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
