Sunday, Oct. 6 ARTISAN & WELLNESS
FALL FEST: The inaugural two-day festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 5 and 6 at Lakota’s Farm, Cambridge. Featuring live music, local artists, crafters, distilleries, wineries, breweries and food trucks. $1 admission. A silent auction will benefit Cambridge Co-op. CANDIDATE BREAKFAST:
The Town of Saratoga Republican committee announces the selection of Ruth Drumm for town council, to replace Mike Booth Sr. whose untimely passing left a vacancy in the town slate. Ruth is well qualified, having served as town clerk for 12 years, deputy town clerk for 1 year, and secretary for the town planning and zoning boards. Presently Ruth serves on the board of assessment review, and also on the board of directors for Second Hand Rose. Other town candidates up for re-election include Gary Squires for town council, Thomas Wood III for supervisor, Linda McCabe for clerk, Marge Kirkpatrick for tax collector, Don Ormsby for highway superintendent and Charles Sherman for justice. Folks can meet these candidates along with county and national contestants on Sunday, October 6, at the Quaker Springs Fire House at 11 am. SMALL TREES AND SHRUBS FOR SMALL
SPACES: The Southern Saratoga Garden club will host a program on October 7 at 7 PM titled “Small Trees and Shrubs for Small Spaces”. The program will be presented by Amy Howansky, owner of Backyard Solutions, and will take place at Clifton Park Community Center, 6 Clifton Park Common Blvd. Amy is a horticulturist, educator and winning landscape designer. She has been a frequent speaker at the Capital District Flower and Garden Show at Hudson Valley Community College. Participants will learn how to select appropriate plants for small spaces based on their mature size. Amy will answer the question:” What exactly is a dwarf plant? “She will show examples of small trees and shrubs that are perfect for under windows, along sidewalks and near patios. She will show how the trends in real estate affect plant breeding and marketing and vice versa. Also guests will get a glimpse of new cultivars on the market. INTERACTIVE HORSE ART
SHOW: Capital Region native and fine art equine photographer Tracey Buyce is hosting an interactive horse art show, allowing the public to meet the beautiful horses starring in her pieces. The interactive evening features Thoroughbreds, Appaloosas, and American Quarter horses alongside the photographs they appear in. Tracey Buyce will be in attendance, discussing all the pieces that will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will be gifted to the New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program. The nation’s largest racehorse adoption program, which was founded in 1992, offers retiring racehorses a safe-haven through placement in experienced homes. More than 6, 000 retired Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds have been placed in qualified homes through the program. The show is scheduled for Thursday, October 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m at the Trilogy Equestrian Center, located at 161 White Road, Ballston Spa, N.Y. Space is limited. SUPER BINGO: Ballston Spa Elks Lodge will be hosting Super Bingo on Saturday October 12th at 1pm. The payout prize will be $2500 along with a $1000 coverage all.
