WILTON, N.Y. >> Local kids have a new place to play with the opening of Wiggle Worms Playland’s second location.

Wiggle Worms Playland recently opened at Wilton Mall, across the hallway from Cuddle Bugs Boutique.

Both businesses are owned and operated by entrepreneur Kim Henkel, who founded the consignment boutique over a decade ago.

When the boutique moved to Moreau three years ago, expanding to a larger location, Henkel decided to use the extra space to start Wiggle Worms Playland - a place for children to wiggle, giggle and play with a variety of toys, costumes, play sets and games.

Following the opening of Cuddle Bugs Boutique’s second location last March, Henkel decided to bring Wiggle Worms Playland to Wilton Mall as well.

When a different play place business moved out of the unit across the hall for her boutique, Henkel took the opportunity to expand Wiggle Worms Playland.

The new 2,000-squarefoot playland opened in September, and has been busy ever since.

“We get a lot of mom groups that come through and meet up here,” Henkel said.

The space is designed for youngsters six months through seven years old.

Next month, Wiggle Worms Playland is planning

to add a big custom playground for older kids too. “It’s going to be similar to an outdoor playground, but we’ll have it inside,” Henkel said.

Wiggle Worms Playland aims to be safe, clean and welcoming for all of its guests. “We just want a fun place for kids to come play, parents to get together and have playdates,” Henkel said.

Middle Grove mom Mackenzie Luse recently visited the Wilton playland for the third time with her kids. “It’s awesome,” she said. “There’s stuff for my three-year-old to do, my one-year-old to do. I can sit at the table and drink my coffee.”

Luse is considering becoming a Wiggle Worms Playland member. “We’ll probably be here often, because they seem to enjoy it,” she said.

“I’m glad that we have an alternative, an indoor place to play when it’s too crummy for playgrounds outside,” said Bria Clarke of Porter Corners as she helped her active toddler Lucian down the slide. “I’m probably going to get a membership for November to April, all the winter months,” she continued, noting that they’ll likely check out the Moreau location as well.

Looking ahead, Henkel is hopeful that opening these businesses will help the mall. “I really would like to see the mall prosper and fill up again,” she said. “So I’m hoping that with this, we’re drawing people in, they’re coming down to the mall.”

Wiggle Worms Playland customers can come in for 30-minute quick visit or buy an all day pass. Memberships and 10-visit passes and also available for purchase.

All prices are per child, with sibling discounts available.

The business also hosts birthday parties, with different party packages available.

Special events, such as the upcoming pumpkin painting craft session and Halloween party, are held on a regular basis.

The playland offers some snacks on site, and Henkel hopes to expand its menu in the future.

Wiggle Worms Playland at Wilton Mall is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
