Fall Harvest Festival continues Year of the Senior celebration
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. >> Members of Saratoga County’s senior community gathered at the Milton Town Park recently to enjoy a Fall Harvest Festival organized by the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors and the Saratoga County Office for the Aging.
Seniors enjoyed an encore performance by the Sheriff’s Office celebrities from the nationally televised CBS special “Lip Sync to the Rescue,” as well as a variety of games, activities, and food.
A special ceremony was held to honor those who served in the military from the senior community. Each veteran was presented with a token of appreciation from their town supervisor.
Fun and spirited competitions added to the excitement of the day. The winners of each contest were:
Pie eating contest: Paul Markowski of Halfmoon
Pumpkin decorating contest: Halfmoon Senior Center
“It was a fantastic day for the seniors of Saratoga County, who strengthen our community with every story and experience they share,” said Halfmoon Supervisor Kevin Tollisen, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
“Not to mention that it was a perfect time to honor and recognize those who’ve served our country in the armed forces. We can never thank them enough for their service and sacrifice in defense of our freedoms. Saratoga County takes every chance they get to do so.”
“Milton was proud to host seniors from across the county here for the Fall Harvest Festival,” said Milton Supervisor Scott Ostrander. “It was a tremendous opportunity to build community, honor our veterans, and have fun.”
“Our seniors are the backbones of communities across Saratoga County,” said Sandi Cross, Director of the Saratoga County Office for the Aging. “We’re so glad to celebrate the senior community of Saratoga County, and honor our veterans, all while enjoying ourselves at an event celebrating their contribution.”
