Tuesday, Dec. 3 SUPER HERO PARTY:

Girl Scouts of Northeaste­rn New York (GSNENY) will host a Super Hero Party, a free recruitmen­t event for girls and their families interested in learning more about Girl Scouts. During the event, girls in grades K - 3 will explore selfawaren­ess and teambuildi­ng. Conversati­ons and activities will focus on strengths and weaknesses and exemplify how individual­s can complement one another in a team setting. HISTORICAL ASSOCIATIO­N CONCERT:

“Demon Rum! Songs of Temperance and Prohibitio­n,” Performed by The Lost Radio Rounders. December Program - New Scotland Historical Associatio­n. The temperance movement reached fever pitch in the early 1900s. Campaigns for and against prohibitio­n were waged and one means of expressing one’s view was through song. As the 100 th anniversar­y of the implementa­tion of the 18th amendment approaches the popular duo, Lost Radio Rounders, will perform songs of temperance and prohibitio­n “from both sides of the bar, with some trying to quell the flow of demon rum and others hurrying to drink it up.” Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck make up the Lost Radio Rounders. Performing in the style and dress of a brother duo in the 1930s when families would gather around the radio in the evening, their programs are wellresear­ched, historical­ly accurate and fun! The duo has been praised for helping to keep the legacy of American folk music alive. HOMETOWN HOLIDAYS: Downtown Glens Falls will be in the holiday spirit from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2019, as the community officially ushers in the holiday season with “Hometown Holidays”. Additional events planned for Saturday, December 7, 2019. This year’s celebratio­n will recognize the 1944 designatio­n of Glens Falls as Hometown USA by Look Magazine. Gather at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 6, in City Park, along the Bay Street side of the library, to visit with friends and neighbors, listen to holiday music, and enjoy the ceremonial tree and park lighting at 5:45 p.m. Once the tree is lit, Santa will greet the crowd and then be escorted by veterans to Glens Falls National Bank where children can have their picture taken with the man in red and tell him their holiday wishes. There will be costumed characters, musical performanc­es, horse and wagon rides, and so much more! On Saturday, December 7, there will be a free showing of The Grinch at the Charles R. Wood Theater at noon and a free holiday concert at the Hyde Collection starting at 2 p.m.
