LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS SERVICE: All are welcome to come to this Light in the Darkness: A service of comfort and hope on the longest night of the year. The constant, inescapable refrain about the happiness of the season reminds many people of what they have lost or have never had. Broken or lost relationships, employment and financial insecurity, poor health, depression—all of these can be more difficult as the nights lengthen and the cold intrudes. Recognizing that Christ came to comfort those who struggle with sadness and pain, First Presbyterian Church will host a community service of scripture, prayer, music and candle lighting to invite God’s Word to shine light into our darkness. Everyone, regardless of church background (or no religious affiliation) is welcome.

The Ten Broeck Mansion is a 222 year old Federal Style home that was built for Abraham Ten Broeck and his wife Elizabeth Van Rensselaer and family. It is lovingly preserved by the Albany County Historical Association. During the holiday season volunteer decorators from around the Capital region transform the home into a holiday wonderland. The decorating theme this year is “American Treasures.” Handicapped accessibility is limited to the first floor. Tuesday, Dec. 24 BREAKFAST WITH SANTA: The Saratoga Hilton’s 25th Annual “Breakfast with Santa” is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 24 at The Saratoga Hilton; 534 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. The Saratoga Hilton’s 25th annual “Breakfast with Santa” will take place on Christmas Eve at the hotel. The special anniversary event will feature a festive buffet breakfast, fantastic gift raffles and a
fun visit from Santa himself. 2020 SARATOGA STRESS REDUCTION PROGRAM: Join us for the Saratoga Stress Reduction Program, an eightweek Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course taught by Selma Nemer, PhD, and Pierre Zimmerman, MS, in which students learn mindfulness-based meditation as a practice for growth and healing. Our credentialed instructors have taught locally, nationally, and internationally for over 10 years. We have taught over 100 classes in Saratoga with over 3000 graduates. Students learn multiple forms of mindfulness meditation as well as the latest neuroscience findings about the impact of mindfulness on the brain and our ability to heal. As our students discover they can experience a deeper sense of peace in the midst of a fast-paced, demanding and stressful life, they learn to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease. While the program is very personal and therapeutic, it is also solidly practical and offers concrete approaches to dealing with physical and emotional distress. Benefits include improved breathing and sleep, reduced anxiety, better pain management, increased physical flexibility, changes in negative thought patterns, greater awareness of eating, improved immune system and a sense of inner calm. When it comes to taxes, do you have any of these questions? How much farm income do I need to make in order to be able to deduct it on my taxes? What tax related form(s) do I need to complete? What, if any, tax management strategy should I have for my farm business? Should I form an LLC or other form of business, and what tax documentation do lenders require?
