Enjoy craft projects, face painting, and a visit with Elmo, presented by Project Cameron’s Story, which supports the bonding of parents with their premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU),through the use of children’s literature and storytelling. MEET UP: An executive from The Fund for Modern Courts will speak at the next League of Women Voters Saratoga County Meet Up. HORSEMEN’S SOCIAL: The Annual Horsemen’s Social will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 6:30- 9:30 PM, at The Saratoga Winery, 462 NY-29, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. This social network was originated by the Cornell Cooperative Extension Equine Leadership Committee to encourage horse people of all disciplines to gather and discuss the state of the industry, as well as to foster relationships within the equine community. GRANTS TO YOU: A national organization, Grants To You, has been assisting nonprofits in meeting their financial needs since 2001 by providing grant writing skills to volunteers in order to sustain agencies and created stronger communities. To meet this need locally, the Saratoga chapter of Grants to You has offered workshops for 13 years and helped local agencies raise over $1.3 million for their projects. It will hold its next interactive workshops for volunteers of nonprofits on the Skidmore campus on Friday February 21st, 2:30 4:30 and Saturday February 22nd, 9 - 4. Both sessions are required. The workshops will show participants where to find grants, how to write an appealing application and to make an effective budget for a project. Lynne Gelber, board member of the national Grants To You organization, will facilitate the sessions. A fee of $50 covers materials. Scholarships may be available. AUTHOR EVENT: Friday, February 21 at 7 pm - Joseph Zarzynski - Ghost Fleet Awakened: Lake George’s Sunken Bateaux of 1758. Author & maritime archaeologist Joseph Zarzynski will discuss his new book, which reveals the untold story of a littleknown sunken fleet of British warships from the French and Indian war, rediscovered on the bottom of Lake George in 1960. ERIE CANAL PRESENTATION: The Galway Public Library, 2112 East Street Galway, will host Through the Mire: A Look at the Environmental History of the Erie Canal on February 22 at 11:00 am. Presented by David Brooks, Education Director of Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site, the presentation will discuss the construction of the Erie Canal in 1817, how the vastness of the project and the environment that it would cut through became its largest obstacle, and how people of that era viewed their environment. After two successful outdoor seasons at the Malta Drivein, the Malta Flea Market will move indoors for the winter.
