LOBBYING - IT’S NOT A DIRTY WORD: CANCELED - Jennifer Wilson, deputy director of the League of Women Voters of New York State, will speak about ethics reform at the Saratoga League’s meetup on March 18, 7 to 9 p.m. Her talk will be followed by a presentati­on by League steering committee members Ann Kril and Barb Thomas on how to lobby. Attendees will then organize into groups to contact legislator­s. This meetup will be held in the Community Room of the Adirondack Trust Mabee Building, 31 Church St., Saratoga Springs. LENTEN LUNCH SERIES: The Village churches of Ballston Spa (Baptist, Episcopal, Methodist & Presbyteri­an) will hold an ecumenical Lenten lunch series called “People Around The Cross” on Wednesdays during Lent (March 4 – April 1) from 12:00-1:00 pm at Christ Episcopal Church (15 W. LENTEN FISH FRY DINNER: On Friday, February 28th, and every Friday throughout Lent, until April 10th, Knights of Columbus #246 at 50 Pine Road, Saratoga Springs will be hosting their Lenten Fish Fry Dinners, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. In addition to New England Clam Chowder, entrees will include Fried or Baked Haddock, Fried Clam Strips. HERITAGE HUNTERS: CANCELED - Heritage Hunters of Saratoga County will meet on Saturday, March 21st, at 1 pm at the Town of Saratoga Town Hall, corner of Rt. 4 and Rt. 29 in Schuylervi­lle. Chris Martin, Chief of Natural and Cultural Resources for the Saratoga National Historic Park, will discuss an archaeolog­ical dig that took place in May 2019. Led by William Griswold, the work was carried out by 33 veterans who came from all over the country. It focused on a short battle in 1777 that changed the course of the Revolution­ary War when 12,000 American soldiers surprised 1700 hungry British and German men. The goal of the dig was to help determine where in the old wheat field the different troops fought. Used was aerial survey, metal detecting, digging, and ground penetratin­g radar. Public is welcome. PRE-LICENSING CLASS: The next NYS 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Class will be offered March 21st from 9am to 2pm at the United Methodist Church, 175 5th Avenue, Saratoga Springs. The cost for the class is $40.00. A portion of the class cost is donated to the United Methodist Church.

BROOKS BBQ AND ANNUAL SPRING AUCTION: Stillwater United Church is holding a Brooks’ Chicken BBQ dinner on Saturday, March 21st from 4:00-6:30, until “sold out” in Stillwater United’s Fellowship Hall at 747 Hudson Ave. across from Post office. Parking behind church. BBQ tickets $14. Menu includes half-chicken, potato, coleslaw, roll, cake and beverage. Eat in or take-out. The Annual Spring Auction will be held at the same time. CORNED BEEF DINNER: CANCELED - The Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church on 125 5th Avenue will be hosting a Corned Beef dinner complete with homemade pies on Saturday, March 21st from 4:30 - 6:00pm. Cost: free will donation.

REPAIR CAFE: CANCELED - Join us Saturday, March 21 from 12-3 pm in the H. Dutcher Community Room of the Saratoga Springs Public Library. Sustainabl­e Saratoga and the Saratoga Springs Public Library are hosting another Repair Café. Repair Café is a free community event with the goals of repairing broken objects to extend their life, keeping things out of landfills, and fostering an appreciati­on for the art of repairing things. Volunteer repair coaches will be available to help you repair your broken items free of charge. The coaches provide the tools and we supply basic materials to repair common items. People visiting the Repair Café will bring along their broken items from home. Lamps, clocks, hair dryers, clothes & textile (repairs & minor alteration­s), dolls, small kitchen appliances, jewelry, wooden toys & small furniture... most things are welcome and can more than likely be repaired with the help of a knowledgea­ble Repair Café coach. We cannot guarantee we can fix everything, but we are pretty sure you will have a good time! Bring what you can carry (limit of 2 items), and let a repair coach help you fix it. Please note: you are encouraged to actively participat­e in fixing your item and you must remain present during the repairs. FAMILY SATURDAY: The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College presents its Spring 2020 Family Saturdays, a series of multigener­ational creative collaborat­ions on each Saturday from February 15 through April 4. Each program includes looking at artwork in the museum’s exhibition­s or collection­s, discussing and sharing ideas, and engaging in a hands-on art activity inspired by those conversati­ons. The programs, which are free, mostly run from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, unless otherwise specified, and are suitable for children ages five and older, accompanie­d by their adult companions.
