Saratoga County Board of Election closed
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. » The Saratoga County Board of Elections closed starting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday until further notice.
In a letter addressed to the voters of Saratoga County dated March 19, members of the Saratoga County Board of Elections provided an update on that department’s COVID-19 pandemic response.
“We at the Saratoga County Board of Elections would like to provide an update on how we are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of the members of our communities is of the upmost importance to us. Here in the office, we have stocked up on sanitizing products and require visitors to signin.
“Non-essential staff has also been sent home from March 1620, but we will remain open during normal business hours.
“We remain up-to-date on all of the changes regarding election dates and other deadlines. We recognize the growing interest in casting an absentee ballot as opposed to going to the poll sites and we are advocating for allowing the desire to socially distance to be a qualifying reason to obtain an absentee ballot.
“However, there have not been any changes to the date of the Presidential Primary Election or the qualifications to receive an absentee ballot. We will provide updates should there be any.”
The letter reiterates that the Saratoga County Board of Elections is “working diligently to address all concerns and come up with a solution that meets CDC guidelines while still allowing voters the access to their right to vote. We have purchased hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes for each district at all poll sites.”
At the present, the election dates still posted on the Saratoga County Board of Elections website at https://www.saratogacountyny.gov/departments/ board-of-elections/are as follows below. Please check this website for any updates and date changes that may occur due to the pandemic:
Presidential Primary Election: Tuesday, April 28, 6 a.m.-9 p.m.: Early Voting: April 18 – April 26;
Primary Election: Tuesday, June 23, 6 a.m.-9 p.m.; Early Voting: June 13 – June 21;
General Election: Tuesday, November 3, 6 a.m.-9 p.m.: Early Voting: October 24 – November 1
