SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » The Children’s Museum at Saratoga is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a Gala to Go.

Though the museum’s Saratoga Springs location is temporarily closed due to recent concerns over COVID-19, it is still offering many virtual services and activities.

Likewise, the organization plans to celebrate its 30-year milestone by hosting an anniversary Gala to Go.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3, will feature takeout gourmet food crafted by Prime at Saratoga National, available for pickup at the restaurant, as well as an online auction and online raffle.

Most importantly, a press release from the museum noted, funds raised through the gala will help keep the museum going in uncertain times.

“The Museum is committed to keeping its employees working while the museum is closed to the public,” it said, explaining that no more than two staff at a time are working on installing a new exhibit, painting walls, cleaning out storage areas and creating innovative programming. “Help us continue our legacy of success into the future.”

The Children’s Museum at Saratoga was founded in the spring of 1990 when a band of pioneering parents established this institution to inspire children through hands-on, mindson, learning, the release said, sharing that it all started with $900 and innumerable volunteer hours.

Over the past three decades, the museum has served hundreds of thousands of children and their families.

“Parents, teachers and caregivers count on the exhibits, programs and outreach provided by the museum staff to teach children about the world around them, inspire them to learn more and most importantly to build their self-efficacy,” the release said. “Children can engineer solutions to problems, they can draw, explore, create and discover. Parents who once brought their children to the museum are now bringing their grandchildren.

“Children who once played in the museum are now working at the museum and serving on the board.”

The museum has served the Capital Region for 30 years, and now during these trying times looks to the community for continued support, the release said.

Participants can sign up for the Gala to Go, or make a donation, online at cmssny.org/2020annual-gala.

RSVPs are due by Friday, March 27.
