Three UAlbany players selected as preseason All-Americans
SEATTLE » Three University at Albany football players, Karl Mofor, Jeff Undercuffler, and Levi Metheny, have been named to the 2020 HERO Sports Preseason All-America teams, announced Thursday. Mofor, a senior running back from Greenbelt, Md., was named to the First Team Offense. In 2019, Mofor rushed for 1,290 yards on 264 carries with 10 touchdowns. His 1,290 rushing yards rank as the sixth most productive season is program history, and he ranks ninth all-time with 2,441 career rushing yards. Mofor was named CAA First Team, HERO Sports FCS All-America Second Team, and Phil Steele Postseason All-CAA First Team. Undercuffler, a redshirt-sophomore quarterback from Delran, N.J., was named Second Team Offense. Undercuffler rewrote the UAlbany record books in 2019, setting new program records for single-game and season passing attempts, completions, and touchdowns, single-season yards, and tying the program record for single-game yards. His 41 touchdown passes led all FCS quarterbacks, and he already ranks fourth in program history with 4,069 career passing yards. Undercuffler was named CAA Offensive Rookie of the Year, HERO Sports Freshman All-America First Team, AllECAC Second Team, ECAC FCS Rookie of the Year, Phil Steele Postseason CAA Freshman of the Year, and Phil Steele Postseason FCS Freshman All-America Second Team. Additionally, Undercuffler was the runner-up for
the STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award, recognizing the season’s most outstanding FCS freshman. Metheny, a redshirt-junior linebacker from Bethel Park, Pa., was named to the Second Team Defense. Metheny led the Great Danes with 120 total tackles in 2019, including a CAA-best 63 solo tackles. Metheny was named CAA Second Team and Phil Steele Postseason AllCAA Second Team in 2019. The Great Danes went 9-5 overall in 2019 and finished second in the CA A behind a 6-2 conference record. UAlbany won its first-ever FCS Playoff game, 42-14 over Central Connecticut State, before falling in the second round at Montana State.
