Six facing drug charges after Northway stop

MALTA, N.Y. » Six people were arrested on felony and misdemeano­r drug charges following a traffic stop on the Northway.

State Police in Clifton Park arrested Kristy L. Santos, 39, of Ausable; Jeremy S. Bulger, 34, of Ausable; James B. Jones, 51, of Schroon Lake; Donald J. Labarge Jr., 48, of Plattsburg­h; Tyler R. Bibeau, 28, of Plattsburg­h; and Paige M. Bashaw, 39, of Ausable. Each suspect was charged with third-degree criminal Possession of a controlled substance (felony), fourth-degree criminal possession of a narcotic drug (felony), and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (misdemeano­r).

Santos was charged with an additional count of fourthdegr­ee criminal possession of a narcotic drug (felony) and Bashaw was additional­ly charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (felony).

State Police stopped a vehicle operated by Santos for multiple traffic infraction­s, as she traveled on I-87 in Malta. While speaking with Santos and her passengers, Bulger, Jones, Labarge, Bibeau and Bashaw, police said the trooper observed signs indicative of drug use. A search of the vehicle revealed approximat­ely 11.5 grams of cocaine belonging to Santos, and approximat­ely 5.8 grams of cocaine, a glass smoking pipe containing cocaine, and piece of paper towel containing less than a gram of cocaine located in the backseat area.

Bashaw was also found to have approximat­ely 2.5 grams of cocaine and glass smoking pipes containing cocaine residue, on her person.

All six suspects were processed at SP Clifton Park and each was issued an appearance ticket for Clifton Park Town Court on July 9.
