My name? Bottom of your School Board ballot. My dedication? Always at the top!
This year’s School Board election will be conducted like no other.
I want everyone to know what to expect, so you can plan to take part. The June 9 election will be held via a mail-in ballot only – no in-person voting. Every voter residing in the Saratoga Springs School District will receive an official ballot in the mail. Look for my name, Matthew Taylor, at the bottom of your ballot — candidates’ names appear in alphabetical order.
Why should you look for my name and vote for me? As the first candidate to announce my run, I’ve been working steadily ever since then, listening to our community members, talking with public officials, teachers, parents, students and other groups in the community. I want to understand each person’s concerns and how each person is impacted by recent events.
I’m closely following the evolving state and federal developments that affect schools and students in so many important ways.
This year is unimaginably different from our prior experience. If elected, 7 Wells Street, Suite 103 Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 Phone: 518-584-4242 Fax: 518-587-7750 saratogian.com

As a recent graduate, this understanding is something I will bring to the Board.
This will be the year when I’ll work to see that the Board can move beyond a recent contentious, political dynamic, to focus once more on education and the challenges we face together. School safety is on many people’s minds.
To be clear, I support the approach taken by Gov. Cuomo in legislation enacted last summer to preclude arming teachers.
In each school in our district, I favor placing at least one School Resource Officer; one active- duty police officer; and would work towards a plan to transition recently retired or retiring officers to serve at our schools in a secrutiy capacity.
School safety takes on a whole new dimension now and in the coming year. Our students deserve the best in terms of opportunity, education and security. I look forward to listening to you and working hard to earn your vote on June 9th – just look for me at the bottom of your mail-in ballot.
Thank you and healthy,
Matthew Taylor stay
