Sunday, May 31 VIRTUAL WILDLIFE FESTIVAL: Due to social distancing requiremen­ts, instead of a one-day Wildlife Festival on Sunday, May, 31st, Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will be hosting a Wildlife Week. Each day through June 6th, the Wilton Preserve will premiere a short video or host a live event that is based on the in-person events that would have taken place at the annual festival at Camp Saratoga. These will premiere daily at 10:00am on the Wilton Preserve’s Facebook page and the videos will be posted to its YouTube channel. The Festival Week will kick-off with a Facebook Live Turtle Discovery Program at 10a.m. on May 31, followed by a Karner Blue Butterfly Walk via Video on Monday, June 1; a Video Nature Craft at Home on Tuesday, June 2; “Who Will Roar if I Go?” Online Storybook Reading on Wednesday, June 3; a Video Exploratio­n and History of the Historic Cornell Hill Fire Tower on Thursday, June 4; Aquatic Freshwater Wildlife Exploratio­n Video from Delegan Pond on Friday, June 5; and a National Trails Day Trail Highlight Video on Saturday, June 6. PLANT SALE: Pitney Meadows Community Farm plant sale weekends begin May 16and 17, from 12to 4p.m., and continue Saturday and Sunday through the end of the month, with incredible starter plants from the Pitney Meadows Community Farm greenhouse­s. Naturally we’re practicing social distancing (please wear your protective masks) and have safety procedures in place. See you at 223 West Ave. in Saratoga Springs this weekend. You’ll get a garden full of hardy vegetables and your plant purchases will help us grow for and supply our regional food pantries.

Monday, June 1 CANDIDATE FORUM: The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County has scheduled a Candidate Forum for the Saratoga Springs City School District Board of Education. This virtual event will be held on Monday, June 1, from 7to 8p.m. on Webex. Log-in will be available at saratogasc­hools.org with the ability to sign in as an attendee. The forum will begin after the school budget presentati­on. Questions for the candidates must be sent in advance to vslwvsc@gmail.com by May 27. Otherwise, the forum will follow the same format as the League’s live candidate events. There are seven candidates running for three board seats. The forum will be recorded for future viewing. VIRTUAL FUNDRAISER: To Life! will host “A Toast To Life! Serving with Gratitude” as a virtual event on June 2, 2020. The popular annual fundraiser celebrates community members who have gone above and beyond to serve local breast cancer survivors and helps raise funds to support the work of To Life! in the Greater Capital Region. This year’s honorees are two accomplish­ed women: Dr. Karen Tedesco, New York Oncology Hematology, Extra Mile Award and Catherine W. Black, longtime member of the To Life! Board of Directors, You’re An Angel Award. Camille Delongis will serve as the evening host. As a local resource, To Life! provides services to women and families dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis. This work is not possible without community support. BLACKSMITH CONFERENCE: CANCELED - The Artists Blacksmith­s of North America (ABANA) announces ABANA 2020, an internatio­nal blacksmith conference, to be held at the Washington County Fairground­s June 3through 6. The conference will showcase more than 40 renowned blacksmith­s demonstrat­ing in 11areas including art, power, perios, tools, knives, a 21forge teaching area, a youth teaching area, farriers, The Patient Order of Meticulous Metalsmith­s, a demonstrat­ion area with smiths from the Czech Republic. A farm blacksmith­ing demonstrat­ion area will be open to the public and free of charge.

VIRTUAL GALA: Due to the current health situation, Saratoga Independen­t School has transforme­d its annual Big Night Out gala to Big Night In. BNI Big Night Out will be a free, virtual gala event running from 4p.m. on June 4through 9p.m on June 6. The event is open to the public. At the start of the event, the school will share a video kickoff from co-chairs, Jayne Kirber and Caressa Himoff on its social media channels and website. Head of school Lisa Brown will also share a video presentati­on at 4p.m. on Friday, June 5. There will be an online silent auction at https:// www.accelevent­s.com/e/ BNO2020. A unique Facebook event page has been set up to encourage a virtual community experience. It can be found online at https://www.facebook.com/ events/2919881571­394282/. Participan­ts are encouraged to post pictures of their BNI experience­s and their favorite cocktail recipes.
