Saturday, June 6 VIRTUAL WILDLIFE FESTIVAL:
Due to social distancing requirements, instead of a one-day Wildlife Festival on Sunday, May, 31st, Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will be hosting a Wildlife Week. Each day through June 6th, the Wilton Preserve will premiere a short video or host a live event that is based on the in-person events that would have taken place at the annual festival at Camp Saratoga. These will premiere daily at 10 a.m. on the Wilton Preserve’s Facebook page and the videos will be posted to its YouTube channel The Festival Week will conclude with a National Trails Day Trail Highlight Video on Saturday, June 6. VIRTUAL STEAM POWERED SATURDAY: Every first Saturday of the month children ages 4-12 and their families are invited to visit the Tech Valley Center of Gravity at 30 3rd St. in Troy for a free fun, creative hands-on project. Brought to you through the generous support of the Albany Society of Engineers Foundations, these mind-expanding projects help children discover creative play through science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. This month’s virtual tutorial is “Secret Spy Messages!” Learn how to send messages like a spy with invisible ink and encoded messages. BLACKSMITH CONFERENCE:
CANCELED - The Artists Blacksmiths of North America (ABANA) announces ABANA 2020, an international blacksmith conference, to be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds June 3 through 6. The conference will showcase more than 40 renowned blacksmiths demonstrating in 11 areas
including art, power, perios, tools, knives, a 21 forge teaching area, a youth teaching area, farriers, The Patient Order of Meticulous Metalsmiths, a demonstration area with smiths from the Czech Republic. A farm blacksmithing demonstration area will be open to the public and free of charge. There will be blacksmithing competitions, lectures, a gallery of fine ironwork, an auction, family craft programs, tours, vendors tailgating and tool raffles. After much discussion and with very heavy hearts, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the Cambridge Valley balloon festival this year. We will celebrate our 20th anniversary with the June 4-6, 2021 festival. We fully understand the impact this will have on our community as we are aware the balloon festival serves as most of the communities largest fundraiser of the year. Not that we are not hopeful the state of New York and our country will be back up and running by June, our very generous sponsors will not be in a position to support us this year as their businesses have suffered. We have said many times in the past, sponsors are what makes this happen and we cannot do it without them! Please stay tuned throughout the year for updates on our Facebook page, our website and in press releases for dates on our artists/poster unveiling and pre-sales of our 20th anniversary official merchandise. ANTIQUE BOTTLE SHOW & SALE: CANCELED - The National Bottle Museum’s 2020 Saratoga Bottle Show is canceled. These are difficult times but the main priority is the safety of the public. We will not reschedule but we look forward to a bigger, better Saratoga Bottle Show in June 2021.

Sunday, June 14 BEEKMAN STREET ART FAIR: CANCELED - The 8th annual Beekman Street Art Fair scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 2020 has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thanks to the flexibility of funding agencies, generosity of supporters and creativity of the event planners, fair goers will still get to browse and purchase an amazing variety of fine art and craft. Project managers are working with grantor Saratoga Arts to use the funds awarded for the fair on some alternate events later in the summer that will follow City and State guidelines for public safety. The first event being planned is an online auction accessed through the Beekman Street Arts District website at SaratogaArtDistrict. com. The auction will go live on June 7, 2020 and run for 2 weeks straddling what would have been the actual fair date of June 14, 2020. The online auction put together by Arts Spark will feature the work of artists who would have participated in this year’s fair. After the auction the e-commerce site will remain, allowing BSAF artists and Saratoga Springs Arts District, Inc. members the opportunity to sell online all year through the website. If it is deemed safe to do so, the project team is also planning to host three late summer Second Sunday Pop-Up Art events on the lawns, porches, and interiors of the Arts District shops. These would be held on the second Sundays of each month - July 12, August 9, and Sept 13, 2020. The idea is to have a different set of 2020 BSAF artists each week along with strolling musicians and street performers for small scale festive, family friendly events. CONCERT IN THE PARK: CANCELED - The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association has presented free summer events for the community for many years. The Glen Conservancy will host a fiddle workshop starting the evening of July 17 and culminating the afternoon of July 19. Grammy nominee Andrea Hoag is the instructor. Students will compare and contrast the fiddle styles of the Northern US, Southern US, Ireland and Sweden. The workshop will be taught by ear with sheet music distributed at the conclusion. It is appropriate for all skill levels; however must be able to play tunes by ear. It will end with a concert on 7⁄19 at 2 PM.
