CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. » Local business Spoon & Whisk Kitchenware and nonprofit CAPTAIN Community Human Services have teamed up to help meet food pantry shortages due to recent high demand.

Starting June 8, 10 percent of all kitchenware purchases at Spoon & Whisk will be donated to CAPTAIN’s Emergency Food & Hygiene Pantry, which recently extended its hours to meet the growing needs of Saratoga County residents.

“During this challenging time, we can help make sure everyone has food on the table,” store owner Cheryl Zinni said in a press release. “We’re grateful for the support our customers have given us since 2007, and while we continue to need their support, it’s our turn to give back. With so much uncertainty right now, we want to help people make the right choices with their dollars.

Shopping locally elevates your cooking and nourishes your family. It supports Spoon & Whisk and provides meals for area residents.”

The independent kitchenware store, located at 1675 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park, reopened its doors to the public on June 3. Orders can be placed online for curbside or in-store pickups through the store’s website at SpoonAndWhisk.com.

CAPTAIN, which stands for Community Action for Parents, Teens and Interested Neighbors, has provided financial, mental and physical resources for youth, adults and seniors since 1977.
