Ballston Spa Cynthia M. Hakanson 68, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020. She was born in Staten Island, NY on September 21, 1951 to John and Anne Draghi. Cynthia had several accomplish­ments including cosmetolog­y, and the culinary arts. She graduated from Schenectad­y County Community College with an associates degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She enjoyed creating new recipes and sharing her creations with family and friends. Her dream was to nish a cookbook inspired by her devotion to Blessed Mother. Cynthia enjoyed singing, writing songs of faith, traveling to sacred places including Majegorie and Lourdes, and found great solace in the church and prayer. She had a strong faith and was a communican­t of St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa. She was a part of the prayer group there, and she prayed for many people. She donated money to several Catholic organizati­ons and enjoyed visiting the Sisters and Nuns in the local area. Cynthia is survived by her husband Richard and their children Craig Hakanson (Marianne), Darrin Hakanson, and Jessica Roberts (Timothy); granddaugh­ter Marlee; siblings Jane Grecsek (Jerry), Marilyn Iosue and David Draghi (Donna); and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 17 from 4pm to 7pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Social distancing and masks will be observed as required by CDC guidelines. A private family service will be held with burial in Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island. In lieu of owers, memorial contributi­ons in memory of Cynthia may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
