Friday, July 3 CHICKEN BARBECUE FUNDRAISER: Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser happening at Brookside Museum, Friday, July 3rd, 2-6pm, the trustees of the Brookside Museum, Saratoga County Historical Society will be hosting a Barbecue Chicken Fundraiser to raise money to support the museum during the Covid shutdown. Located in the parking lot of the museum at, 6 Charlton St in Ballston Spa, this is a take out fundraiser only. With the generous assistance from the Ballston Spa VFW the menu includes; 1⁄2 BBQ Chicken, baked potato, baked beans, roll, a drink donated by Stewarts Shops and a cookie. Dinners are $12 per chicken dinner. Including a special arts and crafts 4th of July goodie bag for the kids. The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association has presented free summer events for the community for many years. This year the COVID-19 pandemic has curtailed some of the public activities that residents and visitors to the village of Ballston Spa have come to enjoy. NATURALIZATION CEREMONY: CANCELED: In consultation with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Saratoga National Historical Park has cancelled the Naturalization Ceremony, traditionally held on July 4. The popular event draws hundreds of visitors and participants to witness the moving ceremony of citizens taking the oath of allegiance for the first time. The size of the crowd, and nature of the seated event, makes it unsafe to carry out during the COVID-19 pandemic. The park’s operational approach while responding to the COVID-19 pandemic is to examine each facility function, each service provided, and each special event to ensure those operations comply with current public health guidance and will be regularly monitored. We continue to work closely with the NPS Office of Public Health using CDC guidance to ensure public and workplaces are safe and clean for visitors, employees, partners, and volunteers. As the park anticipates being able to increase visitor access to the park when the Capital Region of New York is cleared to enter Phase 4 of the “New York Forward” plan, park staff will

SUNDAY STROLL: Sunday, July 5 - Wealth & Wellness: Franklin Square. The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to present their summer series of historic walking tours while remaining safe and socially distanced. Summer Sunday Strolls will be offered every Sunday through Sept. 6 at 10:30 a.m. in various neighborhoods throughout the city. Tour topics this season highlight prominent women of Greenridge Cemetery, the celebrated area surrounding the Saratoga Race Course, and the historic Spa State Park, among many others. All Sunday morning tours last approximately 90 minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Due to current restrictions in New York State, Summer Strolls will be limited to 20 guests, which currently is less than the maximum of 25 that is currently allowed, and tickets must be purchased in advance until otherwise noted. Everyone will be required to wear a mask and social distancing will be encouraged when possible. The cost per tour is $15 for SSPF members and $20 for non-members. BIKE TOUR: The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is pleased to offer its popular bike tour of the historic Saratoga Spa State Park on three occasions this summer. Join Linda HarveyOpiteck on Saturday, July 11th, Saturday, August 22nd, or Sunday, September 27th for a tour of the park to explore its historic development from 1910 to the present, highlighting its significant architecture and landscape while remaining socially distant. Bike through the beautiful outdoors along the old roads, carriage paths, and trolley lines to explore the progressive story of Saratoga Spa State Park. This includes the protection of the springs, the creation of the reservation, and its development as a world-class spa, which today is a major cultural and recreational destination. The tour starts at the early bathhouses on South Broadway, known as Lincoln Park, then travels over to the little known springs on Route 50, and down to the scenic Geyser Park area. Along the way some of the changes made in the 1960s will be discussed. The tour concludes at the complex of Beaux Arts buildings in the heart of the park. Tickets are $20 for SSPF Members and $25 for non-members. Tour will last approximately three hours and people must bring their own bike. FIDDLE WORKSHOP: Fiddling Across Traditions workshop at Glen Conservancy, 1538 State Highway 161, Hamlet of Glen NY 12072. Featuring Grammy Nominee Andrea Hoag. The Glen Conservancy will host a fiddle workshop starting the evening of July 17 and culminating the afternoon of July 19. Grammy nominee Andrea Hoag is the instructor. Students will compare and contrast the fiddle styles of the Northern US,

Southern US, Ireland and Sweden. The workshop will be taught by ear with sheet music distributed at the conclusion. It is appropriate for all skill levels; however must be able to play tunes by ear. Life: North Broadway. The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to present their summer series of historic walking tours while remaining safe and socially distanced. Summer Sunday Strolls will be offered every Sunday through Sept. 6 at 10:30 a.m. in various neighborhoods throughout the city. Tour topics this season highlight prominent women of Greenridge Cemetery, the celebrated area surrounding the Saratoga Race Course, and the historic Spa State Park, among many others. All Sunday morning tours last approximately 90 minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Due to current restrictions in New York State, Summer Strolls will be limited to 20 guests, which currently is less than the maximum of 25 that is currently allowed, and tickets must be purchased in advance until otherwise noted. Everyone will be required to wear a mask and social distancing will be encouraged when possible. The cost per tour is $15 for SSPF members and $20 for non-members.
