Cohoes to host Friday night ‘Eat in the Street’
COHOES, N.Y. » During the summer of 2020, people will be able to “Eat in the Street” at the array of eateries on historic Remsen Street in the Spindle City.
This new Friday evening outdoor dining experience will be available starting on July 10 thru Oct. 2, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting.
The program is jointly hosted by the city of Cohoes and the Cohoes Local Development Corporation.
“For folks who love our downtown Cohoes restaurants and are eager to again patronize them, ‘Eat in the Street’ provides them the added enjoyment of dining al fresco,” Cohoes Mayor Bill Keeler said in a news release.
“Working with our restaurant owners, it is clear that they are anxious to welcome their customers back. The ‘Eat in the Street’ program will provide a festive atmosphere for them to do just that,” Debbie Jacques, executive director of the CLDC remarked.
“People are eager to get back to our downtown restaurants. Social distancing is reducing the amount of inside table space. Some customers prefer outdoor eating, so that is what we will be helping our restaurants provide for their guests,” Community and Economic Development Director and CLDC Board Member Steve Napier added.
The city will close Remsen Street beginning at 3:30 p.m. for restaurants to set up on the designated Fridays. The street will re-open to traffic at 10 p.m. Cross streets will remain open to traffic, and parking will be clearly marked.
