New event coming to Capital Region this fall
ALTAMONT, N.Y. » A new event called the Hollowed Harvest is coming to the Capital Region later this year.
The inaugural Hollowed Harvest is scheduled to open at 6 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Altamont Fairgrounds and will continue Thursday through Sunday of each week through the beginning of November, with additional dates added the week of Halloween.
With the support of the local community, the team at Long Island-based company BOLD Media has worked for months to organize the Hollowed Harvest, which will feature 7,000 jacko’-lanterns creating stunning landscapes and larger-than-life displays.
From dinosaurs to zombies, sea creatures to medieval castles, all made out of jack-o’-lanterns, some displays will tower as tall as three stories and span more than 60 feet in length.
“The Hollowed Harvest brings to life many of Halloween’s relished fantasies that are sure to amaze audiences of all ages,” BOLD Media CEO Matthew Glaser said in the release. “We’re excited to bring this new Halloween tradition to the Capital Region and look forward to sharing the wonderful Jack-O’Lantern displays.”
Amy Anderson, manager of the Altamont Fair, added, “I am beyond excited about the Hollowed Harvest coming to the Altamont Fairgrounds as Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. We look forward to hosting this event and building a great relationship with BOLD Media in hopes of turning Hallowed Harvest into a yearly event.”
To create a safe event, the Hollowed Harvest has limited time slots to reduce the number of guests admiring the show at one time and has coordinated with town police to enact a COVID safety plan in which guests must also wear face masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
“In a year of cancellations, you can count on the Hollowed Harvest to save Halloween,” the release said, urging attendees to reserve their tickets as soon as possible, as time slots are limited and expected to fill quickly on a first come first serve basis.
Show dates and ticket information are available exclusively on the web at HollowedHarvest.com. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
To celebrate the announcement of the Hollowed Harvest, event organizers are offering $3 off each admission ticket purchased through Sunday, July 12.
