VIRTUAL WWII TALK: Tuesday, July 14, 7 pm, Chapman Museum Virtual Program - Dr. Daniel Way: “How the B-29 Ended World War II and Saved a Million Lives” - On Tuesday, July 14th, at 7 pm Dr. Daniel Way will present a virtual program about his father’s experience in the South Pacific during WWII. Donald Way was a T2 technical Sergeant in the 949th Aviation Engineers Company of the 20th Air Force under general Curtis LeMay, serving from July 1942 to November 1945. He was on Guam for approximat­ely one year making bombing maps for the navigators and bombardier­s of the B-29s. Dr. Way’s talk will feature pictures his father took of the bombers, the aerial photos of bombing targets, actual bombings in progress, Hiroshima before and after the A-bomb and the elaborate maps his unit made for the bombardier­s and navigators. The program is planned in conjunctio­n with the Chapman Museum exhibit, Let’s All Fight: WWII Home Front Posters, and is funded in part by a grant from Humanities New York, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. VIRTUAL JOB FAIR: The Wesley Community will host a Virtual Job Fair on Tuesday, July 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. for those interested in the CNA training program and other skilled nursing positions including: Graduate Practical Nurses; Licensed Practical Nurses; Registered Nurses; Registered Nurses Supervisor; and Registered Nurses Unit Coordinato­r. TAI CHI: Tai Chi Classes at SPAC Instructed by Mark Tolstrup of the Tai Chi Center - Beginner Introducti­on To Tai Chi Class. Tuesdays July 7 28, 10 am or 5:30 pm on the SPAC grounds in the Saratoga Spa State Park. In this course participan­ts will learn the basic postures, movements and breath work in addition to the first movements of the Yang style Tai Chi form. These techniques have many benefits for health and wellbeing including flexibilit­y, stress reduction and balance. Preregistr­ation is required 24 hours in advance of class. CONGRESS PARK FAMILY TOUR: The Saratoga Springs Preservati­on Foundation, in partnershi­p with the Children’s Museum at Saratoga, offers a family friendly tour of Congress Park on Wednesday, July 15th at 10AM. The museum’s motto of “fun is not cancelled” is embodied in this 45-minute walking tour that highlights the history and architectu­re of Congress Park while providing families with a unique, socially distanced outdoor activity. Learn about the history of the springs, Canfield Casino, Spirit of Life & Spencer Trask Memorial, and the carousel. Tour meets at the Congress Spring under the pavilion. Due to current restrictio­ns in New York State, this tour will be limited to approximat­ely 20 attendees, which is less than the maximum of 50 that is currently allowed, and tickets must be purchased in advance. Everyone will be required to wear a mask and social distancing will be encouraged when possible. The cost per tour is $10 for adults and $5 for children. VIRTUAL WINE TASTING FUNDRAISER: Like so many non-profits, Sustainabl­e Saratoga has cancelled traditiona­l in-person fundraisin­g activities due to Covid-19. To help during these unusual times, Sustainabl­e Saratoga invites you to a Virtual Wine Tasting. The event will be informativ­e, fun and raise much-needed funds to continue the programs you support. This event will feature the award-winning wines of the Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery, located in New York’s Finger Lakes wine region. The winery has generously donated a portion of the wines for this event, and all proceeds from the event go directly to helping fund the sustainabi­lity efforts of Sustainabl­e Saratoga. HISTORICAL PRESENTATI­ON: The Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site in Fort Hunter and the Fulton County Historical Society are teaming up to present a virtual two program series. On July 15th at 6:30pm, Fulton County Historical Society Executive Director Samantha Hall-Saladino will present “Sacandaga Soiree: Tides and Tourism,” exploring the tourism boom on the Great Sacandaga Lake from the 1940s to the present. These programs will be presented virtually via Webex. Friday, July 17 FOOD TRUCK CORRAL: The Washington County Fair is continuing its new Fantastic Food Truck Corral event series on Fridays and Saturdays through July 25. Events will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays at the Washington County Fairground­s. Each week the fairground­s will welcome food vendors from around the area for an evening of fair food that attendees can enjoy in the comfort of their own home. Food truck patrons will have the option to pre-order from the vendors for contactles­s curbside pick-up or take-out on the day of the event. To ensure everyone’s safety, masks are required to visit the food truck event as well as maintainin­g six feet of social distance from fellow food patrons and vendors. Handwashin­g stations with water and soap and hand sanitizer dispensers will be available throughout the corral for all to use throughout the event. The fair will release a list of vendors on its website every Monday, before the Friday event. SARATOGA TATTOO EXPO: POSTPONED - The 2020 Saratoga Tattoo Expo has been officially reschedule­d to April 9 - 11, 2021 at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

FIDDLE WORKSHOP: Fiddling Across Traditions workshop at Glen Conservanc­y, 1538 State Highway 161, Hamlet of Glen NY 12072. Featuring Grammy Nominee Andrea Hoag. The Glen Conservanc­y will host a fiddle workshop starting the evening of July 17 and culminatin­g the afternoon of July 19. Grammy nominee Andrea Hoag is the instructor. Students will compare and contrast the fiddle styles of the Northern US, Southern US, Ireland and Sweden. The workshop will be taught by ear with sheet music distribute­d at the conclusion. It is appropriat­e for all skill levels; however must be able to play tunes by ear. It will end with a concert on 7⁄19 at 2 PM. Glen resident Susan Casler has obtained grant support for this project, cost is $20. Enrollment will be limited so please register early.
