Free livestream on Wednesday of Israeli documentary ‘Mrs. G’
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » Congregation Shaara Tfille and The Jewish Community Center of Saratoga Springs are presenting a free livestream of the Israeli documentary “Mrs. G.”
The online event, sponsored by a grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeast New York, will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Directed by independent Israeli filmmaker Dalit Kimor and producer Yahaly Gat of Muse Productions, “Mrs. G.” is the inspiring story of Lea Gottlieb, founder, owner and head designer of the legendary Gottex swimwear empire.
As a Holocaust survivor, her ascent to worldwide success was backed by her phenomenally driven, creative passion.
She started the company in her tiny Tel Aviv apartment and then established a small factory in Israel while she navigated to the top of the fashion world with astronomical success abroad.
The documentary follows Gottlieb’s creativity, dominant personality and larger-than-life character.
Gottlieb spent her fortune extravagantly and lived her life like there was no tomorrow - often at the expense of those closest to her.
Ultimately, her unyielding professional vision and unbridled passion, led to complex relationships with her two daughters, who both worked for the family business, for which she paid a heavy price.
The film’s Israeli premiere was in May 2019 at the Docaviv Documentary Film Festival, with showings at the Moscow Israeli Film Festival, Fashion Film Festival Istanbul, Jewish International Film Festival in Australia, Chicago Festival of Israeli Cinema, Boston Jewish Film Festival, New York Jewish Film Festival and Rome Jewish Film Festival.
The upcoming online event is open to the entire community.
