This year Making Strides of Albany will host multiple options for you to participate in the way that is most comfortable and safe.

The 25th anniversary event day will include a virtual program hosted by News Channel 13’s Benita Zahn along with Jason Gough, and an opportunity for registered participants to turn in donations while enjoying a socially distant ‘pink photo experience’ at the Albany Capital Center.

This year’s event will also have a special Tribute Garden, giving people the opportunity to celebrate those who have successfully beat cancer, while showing support for those currently battling the disease and honoring those who have been lost.

“Cancer hasn’t stopped, and neither has the work of the American Cancer Society. We continue to engage with people where they live their lives, serving patients as we attack cancer from every angle through research, education, advocacy, and patient services,” Cynthia Claravall Somma, manager of community development at the American Cancer Society noted.

“Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in American women. We must not let COVID-19 impact our ability to support people in every community who have been affected by breast cancer, whether they’re currently dealing with a diagnosis, may face one in the future, or will avoid it altogether because of education and risk reduction,” Somma further explained.

Making Strides raises money to fund innovative breast cancer research; provides education and guidance to help people reduce their risk; and offers comprehensive patient support to those who need it most.
